Two-night quickie trip

Monday I leave for a two-night stay at Pop Century during which I'll attend MVMCP and get to hang out with Robyn and Simon muchlove I won't have any park pass other than the one for the party, which will leave me with some time to kill Tuesday morning and afternoon.

Originally I'd planned to visit Disney Springs, but am now not much in the mood (lost another kitty Friday Crying ). I'm now thinking something quiet for the time prior to heading over to MK for the party. Options include:

1. Bus to MK, from MK travel to either Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian Village, and just hang out. This will put me close to MK when the time comes to go to the party.

2. Bus to Disney Springs, boat to one of the Port Orleanses, and just hang out. Then bus to MK for the party.

3. Bus to AK, bus to AKL, and just hang out at one of the lodge's savannah overlooks. This appeals to me the most, but will have me farther from MK than any other option.

Any thoughts?

The rest of the trip includes doing the MVMCP and other stuff with Robyn and Simon. I'm packing light but will have my trusty smart phone so I'll be able to trip report on the fly. And then, before I've really had time to adjust to sunny Florida, I'll be back home in the frigid Northeast.

Ooh, I agree. All of the resorts are so beautiful this time of year.

Ah some extra MK time--just what the doctor ordered! I would be inclined to do AKL since its *almost* like being on safari at AK, so it's practically going to a second park wink . Your travel time to MK will be more influenced by the amount of time that you have to wait for transportation than how far away you are from your destination anyway, so it shouldn't make a huge difference.

Robyn proposed a fourth option for Tuesday afternoon: visit the Epcot resorts to see their decorations and join them for lunch at Olivia's (she added a third person to their existing reservation). So now that's the plan.

Tonight I accompanied Robyn, Simon, and their friend Louis to Top of the World to watch Wishes, after which we got a late dinner at Steak and Shake. Louis is a Disneyland Paris CM spending a year working at WDW.

Discovered that the resort refillable mugs are now "one price fits all," meaning they cost what they cost regardless of how long you plan to use them. So I didn't get one. I can't imagine I'll drink enough here at the resort to justify the cost - $17 or $18, I forget the exact price.

A few photos.

Boardwalk. Yes, Robyn actually sat in one of those creepy chairs. And the little snack stand is made of gingerbread!

They had a DVC villa on display at the Boardwalk. This is the studio section. Makes me happy we own here.

We interrupt this trip report to introduce our new kittens!

They are Minx, the black girl, and Ruairi (Rory), the gray and white boy. Both around 4 or 5 months old, both shelter kitties. Ruairi is blind. Because the best way to deal with the loss of a beloved cat is to get more cats. Hubby picked them up today.

YAY!! More kitties. They're adorable.

Is that Voice Play in your third "At the party" picture? I saw them on The Sing-off. They're pretty good.

Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. Robyn facetimed with her aunt when Tigger stopped by because her aunt is a huge fan. Tigger was a real sweetie about it all.

I had such an awesome awesome trip I have a hard time believing it was just 62 hours from leaving the house to returning home.

A few comments on the trip:

Direct flights are better than stopping mid-trip and changing planes. I usually insist on a nonstop, but to keep this trip on the cheap I chose non-direct flights both ways. It wasn't really a huge problem, but I'll think twice about doing it again.

Being back at Pop Century reminded me that it is a bit nicer than the All-Stars, although I would have no problem staying at an All-Star again.

Lunching at Olivia's reminded me how awesome that hidden gem restaurant is.

This was THE BEST hard-ticket MK party I've ever been to, all because of Robyn and Simon and their awesome friends. I like all of their friends. From now on I'm only doing MNSSHP and MVMCP when I have Disney fanatics to hang out with.

OMG the corned beef hash at the 1900 Park Fare breakfast buffet was SOOOO delicious! I almost didn't even try it because it looked a little weird, but it was so good that's all I got on my second trip to the buffet. I asked for the recipe, which they may or may not send to me via email. If not, I will have to eat there EVERY trip.

LOL when they tell you to get to the Tragical Express bus stop before your scheduled time, they MEAN it. I missed my bus! Fortunately, the driver had stopped nearby and a bellhop was able to get me on the bus. They also said it would be no problem for me to take the next bus since I was travelling alone. Still, this is not a mistake I will make again.

I have more photos and will post them along with a brief write-up of each day soon.
