What's New On Your List...

Good Morning Everyone ....Maybe it's because we only go every two years that there is so much new things to see and do, and eat and drink..My list is now as long as my arm...For example..Apart from flying out from England ( first time ) and with Virgin Atlantic ( first time ) and landing at MCO. ( first time ) ..Using the DME ( first time ) .We are staying at our first deluxe resort, Wilderness Lodge, and this will be our first vacation in the fall. So the new stuff to us will be all the Halloween decorations, the new Festival of Fantasy parade, all the new stuff at Fantasyland, ( still had the boards up in 2012 ) ..The MNSSHP that we have tickets for..The Food & Wine festival at Epcot..The magic bands..The FP+ system..All the new restaurant ADRS that we are looking forward to..Our DS celebrating his 17th birthday whilst we are there.( cake to be ordered and delivered to our room, it's a secret ) ...Anyway, I won't go into the new eats and drinks that we've never tried...Phew!..So here's my question to all of you...What's new on your list this year.?..

We have a lot of first this year also. First trip in the fall, can't wait to see the decorations. MNSSHP and parade, Festival of Fantasy parade. Riding the 7dwarfs mine train. We are planning on going to Typhoon Lagoon. Staying at Coronado Springs, eating at Sci Fi Cafe, Via Napoli, T-Rex and Be Our Guest.
We are taking the Marceline Tour our DD will be 21 and legal. Our anniversary falls during the trip and I am having Disney Floral deliver.

We have so many firsts coming up. Just on the earliest trip, we have a new resort (new to me, hubby stayed at Saratoga Springs a year ago), new time of year (we've never gone in what is technically still summer, and will certainly feel like summer to us Northerners), new restaurants (FP for BOG lunch; ADRs for Kona Cafe, Turf Club, Akershus, The Wave, and Coral Reef; and we'll probably also try Spice Road), and first time at MNSSHP.

We are going with another adult couple, we are eating at BOG (ADRs) and Narcoossee, going in fall (retirement yeah!), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but as DH points out, since we go at most, every two years, rides and shows we love are still fresh because it's been too long. muchlove

I am bummed to see the It' Tough to Be a Bug will be in refurb mode in Sept as I really like that show, yuck but alas, we will just have to fill the shortened time at AK with some other fun. yeah
(Does anyone remember when AK had EMH at night? We loved Everest at night).

New Fanatasyland
Restaurants to try - Biergarten and Cape May Cafe
Ride Peoplemover
See Flights of Wonder
Have a coffee at The Writers Stop
Trade a pin (my daughters loved pin trading last time but i just watched them!)
Explore FW, maybe do Chip n dale campfire - we went to FW once for HDDR but never looked around
Ride the monorail from MK to Epcot
Enjoy a Lapu Lapu (wonder where I got that idea from?)

I'm sure I'll come up with many more firsts as the months go by!

Wizarding World of Harry Potter- Diagon Alley (not actually Disney, but we're going to Universal for a day)

For everyone staying at WL for the first time... First off, i'm so jealous but SO happy for you because you're going to LOVE it!! It is my absolute favorite resort. It may not have the incredible MK views, or a monorail, but it's amazing in it's own special way. The boat to MK was one of my favorite things while staying there. muchlove

Not sure when I'll get to check these off the list, but new things we want to try on the next trip or two:

A monorail resort. Leaning toward MK view at Contemporary. Poly is close second.
The Wave
Yachtsman Steakhouse
New Fantasyland. Was open - barely - last trip. Too crowded to breathe.
A fall trip

Our firsts are MNSSHP, first trip as DVC members (staying at BLT), Mine Train, Festival of Fantasy parade, restaurants- Trails End, Sci Fi, Paradiso37, Boma, The Plaza. Then there are all the new treats and F&W goodies.

I never used to have much of a food list until a couple years ago. Then I discovered the Disney Food Blog awesome

New Fantasyland and Mickeys Very Merry Christmas party are the big first for us this trip! I can't wait! You're going to love MNSSHP, it's brilliant! And Food & Wine - this is amazing! I'm devastated it finishes the day before we arrive, it's so unfair!

speaking of fall, when do the decorations come down? We will be there the first week of November and hoping they will still be up? Or do they come down right after Halloween???

This will be our 4th trip this year and we STILL have tons of new experiences planned (how can people seriously question if we all get tired of going to WDW for vacation??!)

1. Wilderness Lodge
2. Bay Lake Tower
3. MNSSHP
4. Looking into Fort Wilderness carriage ride
5. first runDisney event
6. 'Ohana
7. The Wave
8. Liberty Tree Tavern
9. Turf Club
10. Blizzard Beach
11. Typhoon Lagoon
12. Food & Wine Festival
13. Frozen Summer Fun (we saw the fireworks, but missed all of the other stuff)
14. Kali River Rapids (also Primeval Whirl for Benn--he watched last time)
15. Benn's first time flying Jet Blue/ flying out of Reagan National (not too exciting--that airport is kind of a dump, but I prefer Jet Blue to Southwest and that's where we have to go to get a flight to Orlando without a stop in Boston)
16. Winter Summerland mini golf
17. and best of all...meeting up with new friends from WDWFG!!

I would expect you should be able to see the transition from Halloween to Christmas. They start putting up the decorations for Christmas that first week and continue into the month of November.

Please tell me the tale of this "chili bowl", oh wise one. The last time I was there, all they had in our terminal was some sort of crappy breakfast sandwich place and a juice bar--of course, it's a budget airline, so maybe the other terminals are nicer. We flew out of terminal Z at Dulles and all they had was a subway and a dunkin donuts. We had lots of time to kill, so we went on a food scavenger hunt--the A/B terminal was like a mall and they had a potbelly, a chipotle, and like 5 other good places that I can't remember now.

Not sure where it is in the airport, I just know it recently opened. It's a hot spot in DC. We have been to the original on all of our trips to the Capitol (my 2nd favorite place to Disney). They have these things called Half Smokes and they are AMAZING and the chili they put on top is to die for!!! The first time we went I only got one. We didn't have time to stand in line for another 45 minutes that day but it was worth it! I'm attaching photos of the original, cooking the halfsmokes and hotdogs, and our stash! If you can get to it I would give it a try for sure!
