R2-D2 Snack and Meal Holders Now at DHS

R2-D2 is making appearances all around Disney's Hollywood Studios these days - as a food and snack holder, that is. Turns out, the droid's shape is perfect for holding a variety of meals, snacks, beverages and sweets to help sustain guests during Stars Wars Weekends.

Churro Bucket
The ever-popular churro gets the droid treatment. Find these tasty treats (with chocolate dipping sauce!) in front of the Great Movie Ride, Fantasmic and Herbie's Cart.

Disney Parks Expansions and Additions Exceed $3 Billion

When Disney improves upon its parks, it improves. The company has surpassed the $3 billion mark in its park additions and expansions - a first in its history. To give an idea of where all that moolah is going, here is a breakdown of recent work at Disney parks worldwide:

  • Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World: The Fantasyland expansion, the largest in the park's four decade history, will top out around $425 million when the construction is done.

Moosehead on Tap at the Beer Cart in Epcot's Canada

The afternoon sun is high over your head and you've been touring the parks for hours, all you want is a cold frosty beer. Well my friends, you needn't look any further than the Beer Cart in Epcot's Canada Pavilion. Located on the side of the World Showcase promenade, this little cart of frosty goodness sits near the front of Victoria Gardens, by the the entrance gate to Le Cellier.

Fantasyland Expansion Model Comes To DHS

In case you missed it during its last showing at the 2011 D23 Expo, the new Fantasyland expansion model is now on display at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The model, which outlines the vision of the larger, improved Fantasyland, is now able to be viewed by guests at the One Man's Dream exhibit inside DHS. One Man's Dream gives guests insight into Walt Disney's dreams and how his visions came to life.

Right now, there's no set time frame on how long the model will be on display at One Man's Dream.

Timon and Pumbaa are Wild About Safety

Have you ever picked up a counter service meal in Animal Kingdom and found a trading card on your tray? I was puzzled by this during my last trip and admittedly, the card went into the trash with the rest of my garbage. However later in the day I discovered just what that card was and how much fun it is being a kid again at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom Welcomes New Baby Rhino

Disney's Animal Kingdom family became a little larger this month with the addition of a new baby rhino. Kendi, a 13-year-old white rhino, gave birth to a healthy male calf on May 4.

The new baby, which has yet to be named, is the ninth rhino born at Animal Kingdom; his mother was the first. Guests can catch a glimpse of the newest rhino and his mom when they return to the herd in a few weeks.

According to Jackie Ogden, Ph.D., vice president of Animals, Science and Environment for Disney Parks:

Fun Android Applications for Disney Fans

Last month we showcased three fun Disney apps for your iPhone but we didn't want to forget about the Android users! There are quite a few fun apps on the Android Market to bring some Disney into your everyday life and to help you out when visiting the Disney Parks.

Restaurants and Lounges with a Magic Kingdom Fireworks View

Watching Wishes from the comfort of one of Disney's elegant restaurants or lounges outside of the Park is a relaxing and comfortable way to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks. With the music piped into each of these locations, you don't miss a moment of the magic. Climate control and a great cocktail make the experience even better.

Card Trading Tips for Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a fun, interactive game that Walt Disney World guests can play while while spending time in the Magic Kingdom. Sorcerers Spell Cards are given out in small packs at the Firehouse Recruiting Station, and guests may obtain one pack a day, per park ticket. With these cards, guests are directed to head out into the park and fight evil.

Downtown Disney Car Masters Weekend Coming in June

Fans of "Cars" and "Cars 2" might want to mark June 2 and 3 on their calendars. That weekend, Downtown Disney will bring back their Car Masters Weekend for its second year in a row.

Esentially, the Downtown Disney Car Masters Weekend celebrates anything and everything "Cars." Mater, Lightning McQueen and Finn McMissile will be on hand for meet and greets, and guests can catch both films on the big screen at a movie marathon at the Downtown Disney AMC 24.
