What To Do on Arrival and Departure Days in Disney World

Many of us arrive in Disney World at mid-day or in the evening, but don't want to use up a day on our park-hopper tickets for only a half-day of park touring.

Additionally, there are often times that we don't have a flight out until late afternoon or evening, but we've used up all of our tickets and need to fill the time until we leave for the airport.

Disneyland Paris Ride Shut Down

Five guests sustained injuries this past Monday at Disneyland Paris while riding that park's "Thunder Mountain" train ride.

A piece of fiberglass and wood scenery broke off and fell into one of the ride's carriages, resulting in "light" injuries for four guests and serious injuries for another guest. At the time of the accident, twenty-five guests were on board.

The ride remained closed for the rest of that day while the park itself stayed open. The park's operator, Euro Disney, could not be reached for comment.

Top 3 bathrooms at the Magic Kingdom

To me, finding a clean, not-too-busy restroom at Disney World is great. You can be in and out in just a few minutes. If you have kids or need to change a diaper, then you know how important it is to have a calming, rather than chaotic, atmosphere for your child during potty time.

Getting up early vs. sleeping in late at Disney World: it's a long-debated topic, and there's no easy answer. So we've put together a list of pros and cons for each tactic.

Pixar Celebrating 25th Anniversary at Epcot

It's hard to believe Pixar is turning 25! To help them celebrate, Epcot will join in the fun with special Pixar-centered greetings, discussions and activities May 13-15.

For those wanting to meet and greet characters from Pixar films should make the World Showplace (located between the United Kingdom and Canada pavilions) a must-see stop. There, characters from "Toy Story 3," "Up," "The Incredibles," and "Monsters, Inc." will be on hand for autographs and photos.

AAA Four-Diamond Status For Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Congratulations go out to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge this week for their recent achievement of the AAA Four-Diamond rating.

This is a pretty lofty status the Animal Kingdom Lodge has garnered as only four percent of AAA-rated hotels are granted the Four-Diamond rating. To date, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is the seventh Walt Disney World resort to gain this status.

Muppet Movie Reminders in Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney's Hollywood Studios is a treasure trove of nostalgic detail, and you can even find it in the gift shops!

Mary Blair Exhibit to Open May 13

Even if you're not familiar with the name Mary Blair, chances are you would recognize some of her work. The artist played a key role in the development of "it's a small world" which remains one of Disney's most-loved attractions. Now, for the first time, her work will be up for display at The Disney Gallery.

The new exhibit, which will start May 13 at the Disneyland-based gallery, will show works by Blair and feature the ride she helped bring to life. Here are a few pictures courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog that give an idea of what the exhibit will showcase.

Major Disneyland Resort Attractions to Open June 3

June 3 is looking to be a big day for the Disneyland Resort. Not one, not two but three major attractions are set to open on that date. In Disneyland, look for Star Tours ride to open. Not too far away in Disney's California Adventure, Ariel's Undersea Adventure and Goofy's Sky School will be opening the same day.

Star Tours will have undergone a big overhaul when it reopens in June. Fans can expect a different experience with each ride thanks in part to some fifty different voyages utilizing different combinations of totally new destinations.
