Disney Pixar Withdraws From Animation Awards

This year saw a major change for Disney Pixar as they intentionally withdrew from the Hollywood chapter of the International Animated Film Society. The Society hands out annual awards, more commonly known as Annie Awards, for achievements in animation.

Disney Water Park Rentals Prove Popular

If you're planing to stay and play the whole day at either Disney water park, Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, then consider heading right for their available rentals.

"Beachcomber Shacks" and "Polar Patios" are available for rent in the water parks and prove to be very popular, often filling up within an hour after the park opens.

Up to six guets can enjoy each shack or patio for the day. Rentals also include towels, Adirondack-style seating, a locker, beverages, and overhead shade and shelter. A personal attendant who can take and deliver orders from a menu is also included.

New Radiator Springs Ride to Debut in 2012

Fans wanting something new in Disney's California Adventure will have their wish. A new ride called Radiator Springs is set to make its premiere in 2012 in the park's Car Land.

Resembling Epcot's renowned Fast Track ride a bit, guests situated in vehicles will be able to take a four minute ride through a Cars-inspired landscape side-by-side with another car. The conclusion of each ride will randomly choose a "winner."

Fodors Bestows Travel Awards on Disney Resorts

2010 has proved to be a good year for Disney and four of its resorts who received a "Fodors Gold Choice Award."

For families wanting the "quintessential Disney-with-your-kids" experience, Fodors feels the All-Stars Resorts are a good bet. The All-Star Movies, All-Star Music and All-Star Sports were each recognized and given the title of "Best Hotel for Kids and Families" by Fodors Travel.

Eat Free at Disney in 2011

What's better than visiting Walt Disney World? Getting your meals for free while you're there, too! For certain dates up to September 2011, guests booking a stay at Disney can receive a Dining Plan for free.

If interested, you'll need to book by December 10, 2010, and your stay must fall within one of these time frames:

January 1 -5, 9-13

January 21- February 3

February 11-17

February 25 - March 3

May 27 - June 2

August 19 - September 29

Book a Disney Stay, Get a Gift Card

Planning and going to Disney World is fun; getting a gift card for booking your vacation is like icing on the cake. If you're planning a Disney trip for the fall of 2010 or early 2011, you could be eligible for a Disney gift card.

If you book a five night, five day vacation through the Walt Disney Travel Company during certain dates, then you can be set to receive a Disney gift card. If you book a stay at a Value resort, you can get a $200 gift card. A Moderate resort stay will get you a $300 gift card and a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort stay will nab you a $500 gift card.

General Public Fall & Winter Disney World Discounts

If you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World for the fall or winter of 2010, you may be able to cash in on some discounts. Recently, Disney World announced savings on rooms for certain dates through the end of this year and early into 2011.

Guests can save 25% at Disney Value Resorts and the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney Moderate Resorts and the Grand Floridian Resorts see a 30% savings. Other Disney Deluxe Resorts and the Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts can be had at a 40% savings.

Disney Legend Passes Away

August 15, 2010, marked a sad day in Disney history. On that date, Disney legend Harrison "Buzz" Price died at the age of 89 in Southern California.

Mr. Price became an integral part of Disney history by suggesting the sites for both Disneyland in California and Disney World in central Florida. Overall, he completed over 150 studies for the Disney company. Walt Disney's daughter, Diane, noted him to have been involved "in nearly everything" her family did.

Changes to Fantasyland Expansion Plans

The fact that bulldozers have already gone to work might lead you to believe that the plans for the Fantasyland update were long since finalized. According to an interview with the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs in the Orlando Sentinel, this is not the case.
