Contemporary Resort's The Wave Bar

Tucked away in a corner on the lobby level of Disney's Contemporary Resort The Wave is best known as a restaurant for it's sustainable and seasonal cuisine. It's lounge however is a beautiful spot for chic cocktails and a relaxing taste of the fresh menu.

The entry way to The Wave takes you through the pipline as you travel into the big blue. You are met at the end by a smiling cast member and shimmering glass wall, the bar and lounge areas are on your right. Cobalt light washes over the two rounded lounge rooms with comfortable banquet seating, small oblong tables, and low round padded stools. This lounge offers more than enough space to gather your friends at the end of the night.

Over the bar twinkling lights are reminiscent of the night sky. Stylish glasses clink as guests enjoy popular cocktails such as the Mudslide Martini or the Antioxidant Cocktail. Who doesn't want to get their daily dose of antioxidants in convenient cocktail form?

The Wave also offers an ample wine selection with still and sparkling vintages from Tasmania, South Australia, Argentina, and Oregon. Beer lovers will delight along with certified organic beers from Orlando Brewing Company. My companion the night we were there tried the Orange Blossom Lager and found it charming and lightly malted with hint of citrus.

I highly recommend ordering one (or two, or three) of the popular dessert trios to share around your party. There's a New York-style Cheesecake with house-made seasonal fruit compote, Coffee Creme Brulee, Chocolate mousse with salted caramel sauce and many more. Each a perfect little bite of sweet bliss.

The Wave offers a great sport to escape the heat of the day and grab a cocktail on the monorail line. You may want to add this trendy lounge to your next monorail crawl, or order something fun and local to quench your thirst while waiting for a table in the restaurant. What are you waiting for? Stop in and make a splash.

Trying to use up all your meals when on any Disney dining plan is a challenge, especially when staying at Fort Wilderness-the Cabins...which includes a full kitchen. We jumped on the boat across Bay Lake to take in a lunch at The Wave and were more than happy...the food was amazing; the service outstanding. We've already reserved a table for our return in February...we are excited!!!
