Disney's Classic Cocktail: The Blue Glow-tini

Every now and then the Disney Beverage program creates a drink so fantastic that it becomes a classic, etched into the memory of Disney fans who spread word of it's goodness across the internet and created even more excitement. One could say that it's been done with the Lapu Lapu at the Polynesian's Tambu Lounge, or at Grey Goose Slushies from the France Pavilion both of which are fan favorites. However perhaps on of the most successful of Disney's magical cocktails has been the Blue Glow-tini.

The Blue Glow-tini isn't only lauded by the Disney fans who have given it a life of its own on the internet, but has earned top honors by being named the 2008 Winner of "Best Drink" Award from Cheers Magazine. Originally developed to celebrate the Year of a Million Dreams (which started in October of 2006 and lasted for just over two years) this fun cocktail is still found on the menu pleasing guests every day.

Disney's Blue Glow-tini is part of the standard Disney Cocktail menu and can be found in bars and lounges across property. However, if like me you're currently stuck at home in the snow, give your thanks to All Ears for sharing the recipe online!

  • 1 ounce Skyy Citrus Vodka
  • 0.5 ounce Bols Blue Curacao
  • 0.5 ounce Bols Peach Schnapps
  • 1 ounce Sweet & Sour
  • 0.5 ounce Pineapple Juice
  • 1 each Blue Glow Cube (optional)

The prep is simple. Just build your cocktail in a martini shaker with ice, shake, strain, and pour into glass with sugared rim! Drop in a glow cube, sit back and pretend you're in Disney. The fruity sweet drink may look pretty, but don't underestimate it, this one can really pack a punch!

Is the Blue Glow-tini on your list of classic Disney drinks? Leave a comment and tell me! Will you be having Glow-tinis tonight?

This is one of my favorite drinks at Disney. I normally get them from The Animal Kingdom Lodge or Animal Kingdom Villa's...they are super yummy! Can't wait to try these;-)
