Drinks & Jazz at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Coming from high on their magnificent balcony, across the cavernous lobby from the monorail station, wafts the sweet, sweet music of the hotel band. Beneath the soaring stained glass domes, amongst the white gingerbread and bustling tourists in the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa you can hear the stunning live music of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra, every night between 4 and 10 pm.

UPDATE 9/12/19 - Mizners closed in 2019 to make way for the new Enchanted Rose Lounge. Tucked behind their stage, you'll find a comfortable spot to wet your whistle while getting lost in the music, it's Mizner's Lounge. I'm a jazz girl and the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra by far makes this is by far one of my favorite lounges in all of Walt Disney World. You may hear people say that this place is nothing special, and it does pale in the comparison of the Grand's Lobby, but I love to sit back in a comfy upholstered chair, snack on Mizner's spiced nuts and listen to the live jazz. The wall of shallow bay windows looks down to the lush courtyard below where you can watch the guests strolling along.

At Mizner's Lounge they serve the standard Disney Drink Menu along with a special wine list. I like the Magical Star Cocktail for a fun fruity drink with glowing ice cube; and the delightful sparkling sweet red brachetto, Rose Regale, on their wine list is a favorite of mine. A fine selection of port, sherry, cognac, bourbon and scotch is also available. There's a small bar menu that has a selection of cheeses and a nice onion tart taking center stage, and of course the endless bowl of nuts. Friendly efficient table service, has been my experience at this lounge.

Come for the music, but stay at Mizner's and have a drink or two with friends. It's a cozy place to talk the night away as you listen to the jazz and wind down from your day at the park. The lounge is open from 5:00pm- 11:00pm and makes for a fantastic place to start or wind down your classic monorail crawl.

Have you taken the time to enjoy drinks and live music at Walt Disney World? Leave a comment to let me know where your favorite spot is!

We love sitting in the lobby and listening to the band play...usually a nice way to cap off a great dinner at Citricos or Narcoossee's:)

Visited WDW with my 6 year old Granddaughter in March '15. We were waiting at the far end of the lobby to have an early dinner with Cinderella and Prince Charming. The Grand Floridian Orchestra began to play, we listened to several songs and applauded the orchestra for their beautiful music. The music was slower and quieter during this time and my Granddaughter "Arwen" very quietly got up and began slowly waltzing to he wonderful music. "Arwen" was in the moment and as I watched her so was I. When the music ended a very kind lady brought "Arwen" a beautiful long stemmed red rose, because she danced so well.

This was a Disney moment this Grandmother will never forget! Thank you Grand Floridian Orchestra! We hope to see you next year.
