Healthy Eating at Walt Disney World

Trying to eat healthy while you are at Disney World is not an easy task, or at least it didn't use to be. Thankfully over the years Disney has begun incorporating healthier options into their dining options both in the parks and at the resorts.

Here we have compiled some tips to help you eat healthy while at Disney World.

Do your research. Knowing where you can find healthy options in the parks and at the resorts. Check out the Disney Food Blog for dining options, menus, and reviews. And don't be afraid to contact Disney and ask about options available at restaurants with a set-menu, call 407-824-5967 or email

Look for fresh, non-processed food options. Disney has gotten a lot better about having fresh fruit and veggies available at the theme parks and resorts. Take advantage of this! Grab a fruit salad or some veggies to munch on throughout the day.

Moderation is key! Something I have learned in my quest for a healthy lifestyle is to remember that moderation is the key to success. Choose a smaller portion size or eat a salad for dinner if you had a big lunch. Don't completely deprive yourself at Disney World, you are on vacation after all!

Some of our favorite healthy options at Disney include the dole whip at Magic Kingdom or the Polynesian Resort, the Mediterranean wrap at Tangierine Cafe in Epcot, and a turkey and bacon wrap at Cosmic Ray's in the Magic Kingdom. For more options, including a special Disney World edition of Eat This Not That check out the Disney Food Blog's page eating healthy in Disney World.

And as a parting tip please do yourself a favor and indulge a little bit. Disney has some great food, especially when it comes to desserts, so have one and don't feel bad about it!

What a great post with excellent links! I love the apple slices in the picture, they are my favourite Disney World snack!

We've been pleased in recent years with the offering at Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, but do notice more and more healthy options each time we go.

I have to admit, though, that I let go at Disney. We calorie count and have healthful eating habits all year long, so this is usually one of my few opportunities to splurge ant caution to the wind!
