If you're visiting Walt Disney World during Mardi Gras, then Port Orleans French Quarter is the place to stay!
Transport yourself to the French Quarter of New Orleans with the cobblestone streets, the smell of Magnolia trees and the jazz music playing around you. In the Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory, you'll surround yourself with giant Mardi Gras decoration. Enjoy a drink at the Mardi Grogs Pool Bar near the Doubloon Lagoon Pool, which features whimsical Mardi Gras characters! At Port Orleans French Quarter, the celebration never stops!
If you find yourself at Port Orleans French Quarter tomorrow, be on the lookout for a little known Mardi Gras event where cast members working at the resort host a mini parade! Each department chooses a theme and then turns a golf cart into a decorated float! Cast members will usually throw beads and other trinkets to the guests watching the parade.
Past floats have been decorated in honor of Splash Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight and The Haunted Mansion. The floats are judged and are honored with certificates in categories such as "Best All-Around", "Most Creative" and "Best Themed". Thanks so much to PortOrleans.org for exclusive use of their photography.
Make sure to ask at the Front Desk when the parade is going to be held! Have you ever watched this "unofficial" Mardi Gras parade at Walt Disney World?
