Anniversary buttons just to get free swag...?

Do you think a lot of people do this? Wear the just married or anniversary buttons to get the free desserts, special treatment, etc? I've been guilty of wearing a birthday pin when it's not my birthday, but I guess I just trusted everyone else laugh

I guess there's no way to prove your anniversary. I haven't seen what kind of stuff you get for your anniversary, but I haven't found that the stuff I got on my birthday was worth faking it.

My wife would tell on me.

Once in Vegas they closed the gate where you get on the little tram between Treasure Island and the Mirage. Within 10 seconds I had the young female attendant convinced I was Steve Wynn's nephew and with VERY wide eyes she opened the gate and was going to let me board.

My lovely bride felt the need to spill the beans that I was of NO relations to Uncle Steve. sad

I agree that it's really not worth doing it if you're just in it for free stuff. What you'll get more than anything is Happy Anniversary wishes from Cast Members, but that's about it.

Last year when we made our reservation at Blue Bayou at Disneyland we were sure to tell them that it was our honeymoon and all we got were a few chocolate coins with our bill. waiting

But the year before, also at Disneyland, I had my birthday button on and I was given a free Rice Krispie treat at Pinocchio's Village Haus without even drawing any attention to the button. confused

I guess it just depends on the CMs that you encounter on that particular day.

laugh Well told!

I agree that it's a craps shoot. Lots of folks wear the buttons because they like the attention. Personally, I don't enjoy being singled out that much, so I'll just wear it when DW says I have to!

I'm with you. I actually don't even like telling them its my birthday at a Cracker Barrel or similar. I don't WANT a bunch of people bringing me a seven cent cake and singing to me.

It's the singing to me that's the worst.

We're totally going to wear our honeymoon buttons in August. Heck, we may even wear the ears...
We'll see if we get anything...

Especially when done by a group of people being forced to do it with looks on their faces like they'd rather be doing ANYTHING other than singing to you.

You should keep a journal! That way others can know what to expect. We've got some other honeymoons coming up too, maybe we can have a swag-off. See who gets the most honeymoon stuff.

Swag off - that sounds dirty. laugh

When we come back, believe me, we'll be posting trip reports. It's only at the beginning of August, but it still feels like a long time away!

Is everything locked down wedding/honeymoon wise or is there frantic last minute planning still taking place?

For the most part we're done. Hotels are booked, dining is arranged, our transportation to the cruise after Disney is taken care of. Only thing we haven't done yet is our flight home since we're waiting to see if Southwest flight prices drop.

I'm trying to arrange a "surprise" for Caitie, but can't go into more detail publicly since she goes on this site Smile

Posting this made me check Southwest again - and the price dropped 25 bucks. It might go down again, but we figured why take a chance and got them now.

I actually know someone who pretended they and their gf had just gotten engaged...and they got a LOT of stuff out of it...but I think that is wrong.

Don't worry, we will provide a detailed trip report...I did last time and it was SO much fun!

I'm sure that happens enough that Disney budgets for it. But I'm afraid I couldn't do it. I think they'd catch me after 3 successive engagements to the same person too.

You can price them differently based on how much stuff you expect!

For you guys who are planning to or did wear the pin:

1.) Are you going to wear the other getup?
2.) Will you wear it every day of the trip?

We're going to wear the ear hats but maybe only the first night. After that, we are definitely wearing the buttons every day!

I don't think there's much opportunity here at all. All you have to do is ask for a button and you get it free at Guest Services.

I think you'd wind up with some very angry customers.
