Best Backstage Tour

If you had to choose, which one would you go on? We're trying to decide between Keys to the Kingdom and the tour at the World Showcase/Epcot, but if anyone has any other ideas, please sell us on them!

I think getting to mix in a Segway is a big plus for Epcot.

That does look cool. (They're also doing a segway tour at Fort Wilderness that's enticing...)

I've always thought the DiveQuest thing at Epcot would be a lot of fun.

The Animal Kingdom backstage tour would be really interesting. I've read about some of the "tricks" elsewhere and would love to see them in action.

I have not been on the epcot tour however I will say that the Keys to the Kingdom tour was amazing. Its loaded with enough trivia and magical "Secrets" to keep the most well versed disneyac involved. Throw on top of that the back stage tour of splash mountain (So that's where all that water and my hat went) Walk on attractions (Line? What Line) and lits not forget the braging rights of..(Are there tunnels under the park? Heck Yea, I've been there, I've seen it, I was almost ran over by a little yellow mail truck) We walked around for more then an 1/2 an hour down there.

There are also 2 unintentional advantages to this tour too. Douring the tour you wear earpiece receivers so you can hear the guide at all times. Some guests think you are important because of this and think you are famous, investors, or Disney Management on an Incogneto inspection. Sounds sill but yes we were asked more then once.

Second if you pay atttention you will learn all the new employee company rederic and will be able to convence some poeple that you work there and sneek a little information out of them. (Whats going on behind this wall? oh, it's ok. I work here...)

Bottom line, lot of fun, very informative and just plain cool.

Salutations, and a general thanks for the greeting...

May 7 2008.

This May we are doing the backstage animal safari and Behind the seeds tours, and next year will be the Big 3 park tour. Has anyone taken any of these, and If so what do you think?

Also I'm "Going to Disneyland" for the first time this fall. Are their any good programs for those parks?

Hello and welcome!! welcome

I took the Backstage Safari tour back in 2006 and absolutely loved it. If you enjoy the Animal Kingdom, you will love this tour and hope it never ends. You get the chance to see quite a few of the animal houses, watch an elephant take a bath, pet a white rhino (if you're lucky), and basically learn all about how Disney runs the park. It's fascinating.

I also took the Backstage Magic tour way back in 2004. This tour changes pretty often, but what holds steady are the utilidor tour (which you've already done!), the tour of one of the CM costume facilities, a tour of the sign shop (very cool!), and the Disney decorations area (want to know where that Christmas tree lives in the summer?). It's a looooooong tour, but it's probably a good one for any disneyphile to take at least once. mickey

CAn't wait for your take on the Behind the Seeds tour--I've just never gotten around to that one and would love to take it.

Thanks for the tips! CM "language" is so intriguing. I'm tempted to work at WDW just to get the lingo down silly

I think a backstage tour of Splash Mountain might just convince me awesome

After talking to my wife I was prompted to add one more comment to this. Taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour (or any other backstage tour for that matter) is like watching Magics biggest secrets revealed on TV. Once you know how a trick is done it's no longer magic. For me this wasn't a problem because I was amazed at how much thought went into things that that you didn't even realize they were thinking about, But my wife had more than one bubble burst during the experience. (Love that Candy smell...)

However I'm guessing that this won't be a problem for anyone who is a regular at this site.

That's always a concern. That's the main reason I don't want to work in Disney World--ignorance is bliss on some things.

I'm always thinking about the cruel whip of Disney management behind every smiling cast-member anyway. I doubt seeing the inner workings will disillusion me very much.

No one wants to see the sausage being made, they just want to eat it.
