Disney Hollywood Studios the new "It" park??

With reports of Toy Story Mania fastpasses being cleaned out by 11:15 AM on most days and the obvious rush for RnR and the Tower, will DHS become the new "place to be??"

That was a "throwaway" park for so many years...

I think it remains what it was before: A couple of good rides (now three instead of two) without that much else to recommend it. I don't want to come off as a hater, but I'd still say its my 4th favorite park.

I like the Beauty and the Beast show and the Indiana Jones show...and of course the Great Movie Ride is a classic. It's always been one of my favorite parks.

Can't wait to ride Toy Story... thanks for the update of the fastpasses being cleaned out so quickly, bali.

I think Magic Kingdom will always be the #1 park, but TSM is going to spread the crowds out a little bit from the standard "Enter Park, Turn Right" that the studios are used to.

Might wear out a different section of pavement, but it remains to be seen if TSM does for the studios what Expedition Everest did for Animal Kingdom.

I agree with SpaceAce. If nothing else it will redirect some of the "early arrivers" from the R&R and Tower of Terror sidestreet.

Interesting. I have to say, I enjoyed this park a lot more than I would. For me, I would put it ahead of the Magic Kingdom, which seems to be too crowded with young children and strollers all the time. There are actually a lot of fun shows and rides at the studios--and I didn't even go on R&R or TOT! I wanted to go on The Great Movie Ride twice, and the stunt shows are fantastic. I wish I had spent more time in this park, actually, and I'm sure I will next time.

I honestly don't think so. Disney Studios doesn't have enough to offer to become the new "place to be." Of course that's just my opinion. I think it will always be a toss up between the MK and Epcot.

As tired as Epcot has gotten over the past decade, I still love it. It was my favorite park as a kid...

I think once the crowds for TSM start to calm down that MGM will return to normal.

I think that after the opening of Rock'n'Roller Coaster the park really hit a lull, a real stale period where there was no new creativity for a while. The opening of Toy Story Mania has sparked some new interest, as well as the name change, thought the name change really didn't signify anything but just that, a name change.

I think this new rennaissance of the park really began with the opening of Lights, Motors, Action! about three years ago. Though it does go overlooked by many, it really is a relevant attraction that was a smash at Disneyland Paris.

I think that's kind of the difference between DHS and other parks, it's more for people who like "shows." The addition of TSM has helped improve the appeal to people who aren't that into sitting and watching, but want to do something.

I usually don't like to see the shows every time I go to the park, so that leaves a significant gap at DHS for me. I want to see L,M,A!, Indiana Jones, B&B, once every couple of years, maybe, but if it's an "off year," DHS consists of "enter, ride Tower, ride R-n-R, ride TSM, eat at Mama's, home for a nap." ha ha!!

Me too! I'm already crossing my fingers that with January being the slow season, we won't be dealing with fastpasses running out before noon! crossfingers crossfingers

But we'll still have to make sure to run straight there just to be safe! I can't wait to ride!

Yes, yes, yes! Looking forward to the report (and tips and tricks)!

Here are a couple threads about how to get the most points. One's from disneyland, I think, but might still be applicable:

disneyland version?

Disneyworld version

in the meantime it's also gotten american idol experience, which while not too exciting for me is a big deal to a lot of people.

I have agree that this is still number 4 on my list . . . I enjoy the park, but it just doesn't have the appeal of the others. If I only make it there for a few hours and hit the main rides and a show, I am satisfied.

That's a really good point. The park will now be flooded with "drama kids!" laugh (Apologies to any drama kids out there!)

Yeah where's teacherdrama and Imagineer. They both seem to have penchants for singing, I wonder if they've considered American Idol.

Yeah, I love to sing -- but that doesn't mean anyone else (including Caitie) really should ever have to hear me!

Don't listen to Caitie and the rest of your critics. Get up there and belt one out! And be sure to make a YouTube video of it! silly

I love DHS, it's my second favorite behind MK. I really enjoy the theme(Drunk. I could go on ToT and RR all day long. I have enjoyed all the shows I've seen, though I thought Sounds Dangerous was mediocre (even as a Drew Carey fan).
I can't wait to check out the new attractions since I've been there last.

Was TSMM there on your last trip? Sounds like not.

It's really fun, but I always want to get right back on and try again once I'm done and the line is always forever. I think I might save up fastpasses next time and do a bunch of times at the end of the day.

I did see LMA and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite parts was learning how they did some of the stunts (I'm a gearhead).
