DVC at Fort Wilderness? Shake ups coming...

Rumors continue to swirl that DVC's next building site will be on the old River Country property over at Fort Wilderness. However looking at recently filed construction permits, I'm not so sure that they show a DVC property, it looks to me like Disney is exploring building behind the trading post near the boat docks with the possibility of a new home for the Hoop-de-doo?

The Wilderness Lodge site is wildly popular with DVC members, but do we really need one at Fort Wilderness? Will it be considered an expansion, or will it have a themeing all it's own? How do you think they'll make it unique enough that it isn't stepping on the toes of Wilderness Lodge?

One this is for sure, these filings seem to show that things are about to get shooken up over at Fort Wilderness.

Let me know your thoughts!

i would love to see more dvc villas at fw, would make it easier to stay there. we have only been able to stay once and we loved it. however i would rather see them build over at the poly, now that would be awesome!!!!

Im all for more DVC sites to be honest. I dont know if id stay there personally, but more rooms just means either more options, and more room at the other resorts.

That's really interesting! Of course, I still wish there were a way to reopen River Country! I was never there, but it seemed like such a great concept.

So...would the appeal of more DVC sites be that DVC members would have more options? I hope that's not a silly question Smile

Do you think they would ever do DVC at the Poly? I wondered where they could put it?

Well Lizzy, the tiki man says there could be big changes coming to the poly end of 2012/start 2013. Rumors from changing a restaurant to major resort changes. But rumors are just that until something happens. If it will change the resort to much, I'd rather DVC not come to the Poly.

More DVC rooms to give members more options, but I think that it's more about Disney being able to lock in those rooms for 50 years. DVC sales do very very well for Disney and if they want to continue earning that revenue they need more locations. I would imagine that Disney feels the DVC Market is turning more money than say, adding another deluxe resort property without DVC Villas in it. I know that for my family it's really hard just to stay in a regular hotel room when we're so used to having a two bedroom villa.

I do not think that they'll be adding DVC to the Polynesian any time soon. They just don't have the space there, they would have to go vertical and that would really ruin the feeling of the resort. Big shake ups do need to come to the Polynesian, as the Grand Ceremonial House was built using materials that are no longer allowed in construction. The renovations that it needs are extensive, and honestly the easiest way to make them would be to tear it down and rebuild it. I've been trying not to speculate at how they will proceed, but from the rumors I've read, they seem need to be looking at options that are somewhat extreme.

I would love to see DVC villas at the Poly. I would definitely stay there but you're right, there really isn't any place to put the villas. I do think they need to revamp the resort though. Update it some... I'm also looking forward to the Grand Floridian Villas for DVC to open. I bet those are going to be awesome.
