Eating Clean in the World??

Random, random, RANDOM food question....Let me say, to start, part of why I love Disney is I love the FOOD!! Yum!! Cupcakes, Dole Whip, Jalapeno Cheese pretzels, I LOVE IT ALL - clearly not the healthiest eater. However, my friends and I started a health challenge about 3 weeks ago. So far I've lost about 6lbs through clean eating and exercise. But the real benefit I'm seeing is that my runs are getting stronger, as is my crossfitting. So I want to eat as clean as possible prior to the 10K and Half during PHM weekend. After I cross the finish line from the half, I'm treating myself, but before I want to try to stick as close to the diet I've been eating and see if I can improve my times, particularly since I got stuck in Corral M for Glass Slipper due to transferring my bib so late (I will be sneaking up a few corrals, as I have a half bib that puts me into the corral I earned, so I am going to try to start there).

SO my question to you all is....where might you suggest eating to stay on a clean diet?? I have a shake for breakfast (which I'll bring with me!). Lunch has been lean protein, brown rice or sweet potato, and lots of veggies. Dinner has been lean protein and veggies. Snacks are healthy fats (avocado, nuts) and fruit. I'm not opposed to salads, but I haven't found a lot of emphasis on salads in the World. If all else fails, I plan to try to order gluten free options, but I thought I'd turn here first for suggestions.

I did look up Garden Grocer to see if I could get some rotisserie chicken or something delivered, but no luck. I'm flying down, so packing a cooler isn't really an option. And this time, I'm at Pop, so no kitchennette (I miss my villa at AKL mad )

Thanks so much!!

Check out the menu at tangerine cafe in morocco. The new spice table place may also help you. Every place is willing to help so feel free to ask. Sushi at Tokyo dining might fit your bill as well.

Hmmm...a bit of a tall order since we tend to be much better versed in the gluttonous options at WDW. I'm assuming we're talking counter service since princess is right around the corner.

Someone posted just the other day about some place to get sweet potatoes in Magic Kingdom. I forget where it was and I can't find it on an all ears menu!! The market in Liberty Square usually has a lot of fresh fruit. Pecos Bills has a chicken caesar salad and a taco salad and you could lean heavier on the vegetables at the fixins bar. They give you a tortilla shell with beef (maybe you could get chicken?) and the rest is up to you.

At AK, flame tree bbq has a 1/2 chicken option or a smoked chicken salad. And then of course Harambe Fruit Market for snacks.

At HS, Fairfax Fare has a 1/2 chicken that comes with coleslaw. Backlot Express has a Southwest Salad with Chicken, a Cantaloup and Cucumber Salad, and a Grilled Veggie Sandwich

At EPCOT, Sunshine Seasons has Oak grilled chicken or fish. Liberty Inn has a Grilled Chicken BLT, a Southwest Chicken Salad, and a Chicken Caesar Salad.

Most quick service restaurants have a salad option. A new stand has opened by Under The Sea that serves healthier snack options. Main Street bakery has some fruit options. The Liberty Square market has the sweet potatoes that Alicemouse mentioned.

I don't know that I've ever considered healthier options, so this is hard! But for a solid snack that won't kill ya, those kids boxes at all the CS places are awesome.

I'm interested in these recommendations too. Not on the same diet or for the same reasons but am meant to be wheat free and sugar free as much as possible. My plan is to try stick to being good for the first half of my trip until our cruise, and from then on I will indulge and suffer the consequences, mainly inflating like a beach ball and rapid weight gain, but as long as I can fit in my dress for formal night on the cruise I can lose the weight again next year.

Columbia Harbour House might be an option, if you go for the salmon with broccoli and couscous. Landscape of Flavors, which is at Art of Animation (so right across Hourglass Lake from the Pop!) has really interesting options that lean on the healthier side of things.

Thanks guys!! These are great suggestions and I'm feeling better. The sweet potatoes are pay dirt. Those have been awesome - even if I can't have them with toasted marshmallows and pecans on top (mmmmmmm......). I was exceptionally perplexed as to where to find the healthy stuff, b/c like Alicemouse said, I'm SO much more familiar with where to get all the bad stuff. Oh, and there will be bad stuff, as soon as I cross that finish line....

I do have a couple of pre-race ADRs. I have Beaches and Cream, which I will most likely cancel (and substitute with a Ghiradelli butterscotch sundae after the race!), Kona cafe, which I may or may not keep, have to look at the menu again, and Yak and Yeti, which I think I will keep.

Sleepy Hollow has a healthy waffle option with nutella and fruit on the waffle I believe.

Smile Thanks Mandy, but from a "clean" eating perspective, there's NOTHING healthy about that (white flour, sugar, processed food galore - even the fruit is probably in a syrup). HOWEVER, I have yet to have a sleepy hallow waffle and as a nutella freak, I may put this into the post-run rotation.

Actually, the fruit is REAL fruit! No syrup, etc., just cut up bananas, strawberries and blueberries. We won't talk about the nutella and waffle part. biggrin

It's probably healthier then a burger. I know nutella is supposed to be healthy.

It's sure marketed that way...half the calories are from fat (and not the good kind) and the other half from sugar. As much sugar in 2 tbsp as in a can of soda. Yikesies!
