Going to Disneyland, no car...Did I mention I'm broke?

I really need help! gaah

First of all: I've never been to the Disneyland resort, so I have no idea what's the area is like, where to stay, or eat...

I'm looking for a cheap hotel within a walking distance, since I'll be relying on public transportation (and my feet). Also, I'm only staying for 2 days, so I'll only need one day of stay...

Do you guys have any tips?

Oh, and I'm planning to go on January 21...Tell me there isn't anything going on this particular weekend, 'cause I've heard the parks can get really crowded on weekends, let alone special ocasions and such...

Thanks, you guys!

There are lots of smaller good quality hotels around Disneyland that you can walk from.

Here's a link to the list of Good Neighbor Hotels http://disneyland.disney.go.com/hotels/good-neighbor/
From that list I've stayed at the Candy Cane, Anaheim Marriott, Stovalls, and Ramada Main Gate. Most of these are no frills, but it's a clean place to lay your head. When they say "across the street" that's really what they mean.

The Fairfield Inn, Anaheim Del Sol Inn, Best Western Plus Park Place, and Dessert Inn are probably the closest to the entrance. There's a McDonalds right in front of the Fairfield as well, and Fairfield is part of the Marriott brand. I would probably stay there.

Eating in the parks, at Disneyland, Rancho de Zocalo in Frontierland has amazing counter service. Pommes Frites and the Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans are pretty dern good too.

My favorite table service there is Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. My Favorite Character Breakfast is at the Story Tellers Cafe in the Grand Californian. All of these are within easy walking distance.

Bahahaha my first reaction to this post just based on the title was...uh..you probably shouldn't go then..but I get it now. You're looking on the cheap and you won't have a car. Ha.

Whoops. Other than that I have no advice because I've never really been to Disneyland.

We just got back a week or two ago and we stayed in the Quality Inn and Suites, it's maybe a 15 minute walk and was the cheapest hotel we priced. They have a continental breakfast and the rooms are nice. We would def stay there again.

We just went in December at stayed at the Super 8. Cheap, no frills (does have a small continental breakfast) but is within walking distance from the main gate, about 10 -15 minutes. Really easy.

However.... You will be there the weekend that the NAMM show is going on at the Anaheim convention center. This is a HUGE music/musician convention that takes place every year.. This shouldn't have to much effect on the crowds at Disneyland... it will however have pretty big impact on ALL hotels in the area. Most will have raised prices and sold out a long time ago..

Best of luck and sorry to bring what could be bad news.. Shock(
