We are down to 27 days until our trip, and when I viewed my reservation today on-line it said I can do on-line check-in 10 days before we arrive. I'm wondering if anybody has used this service before. We're staying at the Contemporary in a Magic Kingdom View Tower room, and I do kind of have my heart set on staying on a higher floor. It says you can request specific rooms, but that they are not guaranteed. I'm wondering if it would be better to just wait until we arrive and check in the regular way. Do you think I'd have a better chance of getting the room I want if I wait to check in?
Has anyone used On-Line Check-In?
We use it all the time. We first make our room request when we book then we also follow that up with the on-line check in. Truthfully, although we always use the on-line check in, I can not see how it really saves us that much time. You may still have to stand in line at the on-line check in counter to get your room keys and such. So far, we have always got whatever it is we requested.
I have used online check-in in the past, and I did it today as well. It's always worked just fine for me. Room requests are never promised, but they'll always do the best that they can. I've heard a lot of people think that waitig to check in at the hotel is better to get your request, but I'm not sure that there is any proof of that.
I've used it at Pop Century (2010). Where it saves time is that there is a special check-in line for those people who did the online check-in. It asks for your information, not just room requests, that can save time when doing the in-person check-in. I loved it and will definitely use it for our upcoming (Dec 2011) trip.
I didn't use it last year but will use it this year. Last year, I didn't have plans other than going to Downtown Disney when I arrived. So I wasn't in a hurry to get checked in. I walked right up to the front desk when I got to Pop Century.
This year is a different story. My flight was changed and I am now arriving an hour and a half later than originally planned and I have a seminar booked at 2:00 at the F&W Festival. I know I still have to wait to get my Key to the World but I'm hoping checking in online will save a little time.
And you know, since I have a short window of time to get to Epcot there will be a line.

We got to WDW 4 times a year. I have used it at least 6 times and love it. I was always able to request a certain room even when useing the on=line=check in.

I've used it once... and I guess I wasn't supposed to as my room was booked thru the group sales department. Everything worked out just fine... I don't know if I really saved much time as I arrived to the hotel around 12:15 in the morning... Not much going on in the lobby
Used it for the past 2 trips and it works wonders. Saves so much time.
We use the online check in all the time Kris. Never had a problem.

Thanks! The only thing I'm worried about now is missing that surprise upgrade that some people have been lucky enough to get. With advanced check out, do they assign your room before you get there? The reason I ask is that I put in a request to be on a high floor close to the Magic Kingdom side of the Contemporary. I'm afraid if I do on-line check in, I may not get my request. Hmm...have to give it some more thought.
We did online check-in for the trip we just took and we had a GREAT room at Kidani Village. It was on a lower floor and very close to the lobby, so we didn't have to walk a mile to the room. We arrived at 1PM and our room was even ready for us without a wait (in a sold out hotel). I don't think that would have happened without doing the online check-in.

Thanks, Kristen. It's good to know you had a positive experience.
I checked in on-line this morning.
