How do you cope with Disney World withdrawl?

Hey everyone! Well with a Disney World trip not in my foreseeable future, I suffer with what I like to call "Disney World withdrawl". I cope the only way I know how to.... I get online and visit various Disney World websites..Some of my favorite sites are Allearsnet, Travel With Rick, Disney Every Day, the official Disney site, and of course Walt Disney World For Grownups (which I jsut discovered a couple of days ago!) I visit youtube and check out different shows and on-ride videos...you would be surprised what you can find on youtube. I watch Disney movies. I look at old photos and video of my past trips. I even go on youtube and listen to Disney World park music ( like music from Main Street USA.)
How do you guys cope if there is a long gap in between trips and you REALLY start missing the World?

David, I guess you summed it up pretty well, But primarily it is WDWFG. The frienliness of the people here have EVERYTHING to do with it.

I hang out here a lot. I do not visit the other Disney websites though. I have taken a peek into a few others but they all seem to be for people going with children. I also sometimes sit down and browse through the scrapbooks I have made from past trips. I am not really sure how I could cope if there were to be a real long gap between our trips.

Hi,

I haven't been to WDW since December of 2007, but I'm not feeling WDW withdrawal because I've gone to other places. I went to the Great Wolf Lodge in 2008; to Canada in 2009 and 2010; on two Phillies road trips in 2010; and on a southern Caribbean cruise in February 2011.

I think the online explosion has been really good for coping with withdrawal. I find that "perfecting" your hypothetical future trips is a great way to have fun in the interim. I mean planning is a big part of the fun anyway, so who needs a trip. Just pick out whatever you're going to do next time, whenever that is.

That sums it up for me as well. Facetiming with my parents when they were in Disney last week was great as well. Got my Offkilter fix. Saw Epcot and such. So that was real nice. Sometimes another way I help the jonesing is finding pins on eBay... lol

Hey Scrappy! You said that you don't visit other Disney websites because they seem t0 be geared more towards kids....might I suggest Allears.net, and Travel With Rick....Allears is a wonderful Disney World website full of great info and other stuff...Travel With Rick is a weekly video podcast from Rick Howard of Kingdom Magic Travel. I think you might like these sites

The last trip I took to Disney World was an 8 day trip. I ended up with 830 pictures! I would have taken more but my sd card on my digital camera ran out of space and I did not have another one...thought one would be enough, guess I was wrong!

I deal with it by (a) coming here just about every day and learning something new all the time and (b) starting and perfecting my next trip's spreadsheet the day after we get back. Doesn't matter if the trip is a year or more out, I start my spreadsheet mickey

There is a clinical term for what you are experiencing. Post Disney Depression..or PDD.

I have it bad. How do I fight it? I come here. It helps a lot to see others trip reports and pretend to plan my own trip.

my wife and I have Disney days. We sit and go through books and do some planning. We've got our next trip pretty much all planned out now. We watch as many Disney videos as we can find. Also in the morning on our way to work we listen to pod casts.
I'm not sure who owns or runs this website but I want to thank you very much. It really helps with the PDD's mickey

Me either...my last trip was in 2008 and I am going crazy! Saving for a Disney trip is a little hard right now..trying to pay off some bills. I am newly married (our one year anniversary will be in June) Every time we talk about saving money, and actually start to save money, my wife says we should pay bills instead, that we can save for Disney later. It's frustrating, but I can see her point. We really are not the richest people in the wolrd...far from it. I am hoping to go by 2013...I know that is still a long ways off, but I figure that would be a good time to go because they should be done with all of the Fantasyland expansion...and the new resort Disney's Art Of Animation should be open too!

Those are good ways to fight off the blues....I also forgot to mention, another way I cope is by ordering the free Disney planning dvd from the official Disney website. I have to admit though, the latest ones they are coming out with are just ok..back in 2005 they actually had four people taking you through a tour of Disney World..there was Erin, Dave, Luke and Stacy. They were quite entertaining to watch. It was made during their Happiest Celebration On Earth campaign. If anyone is interested, you can find it on youtube..just search Disney planning dvd 2005

Before I would just cry ... get it all out and then deal as life went on. I really don't feel 100% happy like I do at Walt Disney World. It's as if I'm invincible there. Now that I've discovered this place and it's wonderful people... maybe the coping will be a little easier since I doubt I will be going again for a couple of years. OMG... 6 more weeks til I'm at my happy place.... yay

DW likes to listen to the Disney music radio stations to keep her in the mood. I like to save the music for the association while I'm at the parks.

Only 6 more weeks? Congratulations! I am sure you are excited. I'm going to try real hard to go by October of 2012. Hop I make it. I wantd to wait until 2013, but that is too long.

Yep 6 more weeks. i hadn't planned on going again so soon (just went in October) but decided to treat my best friend to a vacation since she's been through a lot & finances were available to do it. Will be my 4th trip. Don't get any less excited though Smile

I plan trips for all of my friends! They all call me when it's time for them to go and I help plan their trip...what parks to go to which days, restaurants, best park routes for minimizing line times....I have a great time doing it and I feel like I'm going! I also listen to music at the gym. Country Bear Jamboree is my fave! Right now I'm working on my Disney themed wedding so while I'm not going to Disney I am still in a Disney state of mind! 61 days!

Usually start planning my next trip is the way to cope with withdrawl....get the blues on the Magical Express back to the Airport...the saddest bus ride in the world....

Going to Aulani in February.....this is a different kind of Trip to plan. But planning for a Dec 2012 trip to Disneyland with my three year old (four yr old when we go) grandson will have to do for now

That's a great idea about planning the trip on the way to the airport. You could even bring a planner or calendar to really make it exciting and more...real.

Wow! I think you're the first member of our little community to go to Aulani! I can't wait to hear about that! I hope you come back and share details and pics!
