For those of us who haven't ever done Disney solo. If you had to take a solo trip somewhere, would you do Disney World, or someplace else? I think I might do Hawaii. It's very relaxing too and some of the activities seem more solo-oriented. I wouldn't mind a Disney solo trip though. I think I might do DL solo if I was doing Disney though. How about you?
If You had to Take a Trip Solo?
A solo trip would be prohibitively expensive for me as it would be quickly followed by divorce! Part of the fun is sharing the experience with others so I don't think I'd want to do it anyway unless it was a day at AK or Epcot with the camera and lots of memory cards.
I can only please one person per day. Today isn't your day... tomorrow doesn't look good either.
I have been to the parks on my own, but only a few times when I worked there and none of my other friends had a day off at the same time. I did kind of just feel a bit sad on my own though - I prefer to be with people with I'm at Disney. I reckon travelling on your own to somewhere pretty with a beach and places to explore would be pretty good though. Thailand would probably be quite good if you had to go alone.

Same here!
I don't think I would go to Disney solo - so much of it for me is about making memories with loved ones...but I get the appeal.
I would go to an all inclusive in the Caribbean where I could read, go to the spa, and lie on the beach. Jason isn't a big fan of that kind of vacation, so I wouldn't feel bad and I would love it!
I like the idea of something like a luxury New York City or London hotel. Just send me, my camera, and a week's supply of granola bars and tomato basil soup. (The granola bars and tomato basil soup have no real connection to the solo-ness of the trip; I just figured they'd be easy.)

Ditto!
My husband is a closet Disney-freak and would be super mad if I got to go & he didn't..BUT..if it was a conference or something he'd probably understand..but still find a way to go.
But a trip by myself...hm..that is hard. I'd love to do Disney but I'm afraid I'd get lonely!
I can't imagine to go to Disney solo. I always wish to visit such places with my loved ones to make some memorable moments. My solo trip would be only for the business purpose.
I would love to have a chance to do Disney solo.
After my wife died in 2009 this year will be my 3rd trip to disney. this year i am going to ST AUGUSTINE for 4 days and 10 days to POR. I find wdw one of the best places to go if you are going solo

I'll be going to Disney World alone soon. Was supposed to be me and hubby, but hubby now has an important business obligation that will prevent his going. My sister and her family will be with me in Orlando, but they're big Harry Potter fans and are spending the whole week at Universal. I'll spend part of the trip at Universal with them, but I can't go to Orlando without doing Disney - I love it too much!
Of course, I would rather tour DW with hubby, but I think DW is a wonderful place to go solo. It's safe, lots of fun, and I'll keep so busy and be surrounded by so many people that I won't feel alone. I've got ADRs at Teppan Edo and the Biergarten so I can experience table service meals without having to sit alone. And using the single rider lines will speed up touring.
Another advantage for me is that hubby and the friends we frequently travel with are all couch potatoes who run out of gas long before the day is over. I'm a bit of a fitness freak, and this will be my first chance to do DW at my pace instead of theirs - arrive before opening, stay till closing, and keep moving! I can get all the rest I need on rides or at meals.
Hi and welcome to WDWFG you certainly have a good outlook on going to WDW alone and I am sure you will enjoy it. However, for the life of me I simply (my opinion only) cannot see your friends going to US and IoA for the WHOLE week. HP fans or not those parks can be done(again imho) in three days MAX. So don't be surprised in they rejoin you on the latter part of your trip.

Never! The fun is seeing everyone's reaction to the whole "Disney Experience". You want to enjoy that with someone.
I agree with Vettelover. Universal Studios and IoA can be done to death in 3-4 days. Add in Seaworld though and they might have a weeks worth of entertainment without going to Disney.

Welcome - and wow! I'm a little envious. I think this sounds fantastic! Sure, sharing the experience is fun. But I just love doing things alone, and getting to do them just how I'd like to with no opinions or input. Have a splendid time. I hope you come back and tell us all about it.
I would go on a solo Disney trip. I'll have a couple of days on my own in November before my friends arrive. So far, my only solo trip was to Hawaii. I would go on another. I'm thinking of going solo on an Alaskan Cruise next year.

I agree! I briefly considered spending more than a couple of days with them, then I looked into the Universal attractions and decided one day per park was sufficient. But I'm fairly certain they won't switch over to Disney midweek - they already have 4-day Universal passes, and they think the cost to go to Disney for just one day is too high. I might be able to talk them into Disney Quest on one of their off days, but they'll probably spend their down time lounging by the pool.
Well, I go solo everywhere. Disney, Vegas, US cities and beyond. But I know it's not for everyone.

I'm so glad to see another familiar name. I miss most of our "old gang". Where are cdub and dsoup and SpaceAce, etc.. etc.?
