It's offical-ish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Dave and I have been discussing (or..ahem..heavily debating) when to take Holden to Disney World..he's my son & he's 10 months old. Anyway, we always knew we wanted to wait until he was over a year old so recently I began thinking maybe early next summer. At first there were all these stipulations about selling our house and buying a new one (we got new jobs closer to our families)...long story short the housing situation is going to work out so now we don't have to save every penny for a down payment for a new house..this is turning into a long..very round about way to say we are going in May!!!

I thought that maybe I would go if free dining came or some other discount but then I realized today that the codes are ALREADY out! We aren't booked yet..probably in the next few days..but we are going down for a week the last week in May!
We are doing a value this time since we thought that the quick service DP would be better for us with Holden. We'll probably make one character breakfast ADR and probably one other ADR.

Here is where I need your advice..we can go down as early as May 28th (I'm a teacher so I can't go any earlier) but that's right in the middle of Memorial Day weekend. I know that after Memorial Day crowds pick up..but is it better to wait until the holiday is over to head down there OR have our first day in the parks be Memorial Day?

Good question. First, let me say congratulations! What an exciting experience to be planning Holden's first trip to a place you and Dave love so much.

I think it might be best to wait until the day after memorial day to head into the parks. Maybe if you arrive on memorial day, then plan to spend the afternoon at the resort or Downtown Disney and head into the parks the next day. I know that Memorial Day can be very busy.

That's what I was thinking..heading down to FLA (we drive) Memorial Day and then going to the parks on Tuesday.

Yeah -- I think that would probably be the best choice. Do you know which value you're staying in and for how long?

I think we'll do POP. We love that resort. We love ASMo as well but I just like the lay-out & the bus system at POP.
Has ASMo been refurbished lately?

We are going down for 6 nights & 7 days..but two of them are travel days. At the moment we are going to do 4 days in the parks and one off day just to take it easy. I am sure we'll need a lot of down time. We haven't asked the grandparents to come with us yet..but we probably will..if they do we may add that 5th day because they'll be there to take care of him. They aren't wild about thrill rides or walking around all day like myself!

I think POP has better pools that movies, which I hear is the main focus when you go with kids anyway.

That's another good point..that's pretty important especially since we'll have the down day.

I have never been to ASMo, BUT I LOVE POP!! The pools are awesome and as you pointed out the bus system is great. I think POP is a great choice for your sons first Disney trip. I am looking forward to the day when we have children and take them on their first trip to Disney Smile

Bella, congratulations! That will be so wonderful to see your baby boy's reaction to all of the Disney magic!

I agree with Pop -- I don't think ASMo has been refurbed lately, and Pop is going through a refurb right now.

Also, Pop has that fun kids' soft carpet water play area, which could be fun.

I forgot about that! Oh the things you don't pay attention to when you don't have little ones!
