My little Disney shopping addiction

I always and I mean always spend more than planned on everything from mugs to pins to ornaments, shirts etc. How do you keep your spending in check? Or should I just give up and say oh well?

Since Disney is our one vacation a year we just go for it. Well within reason that is. The DH loves watches so we budget for that and I always want a few Alex and Ani. Than there are the pins, t-shirts, mugs, and other fun items. So my advice is to enjoy and don't get home and regret that you didn't get an item you really wanted.

It's your vacation, so just go with the flow! You deserve a few treats!

I agree with jhugo, don't get home and regret not getting something you really liked. I use the Disney gift cards I buy throughout the year for my trip spending- and sometimes it's actually enough! mickey We can't afford to go crazy, but it's always nice to bring some of the magic home.

Same here Figgy...Last year was our first encounter in October and I went daft buying Food & Wine stuff..From oven mitts to T- shirts to a print of three character chefs, to wine glasses, to plastic trays...etc...Then on our last day I went completely mad and bought a brown grizzly bear at Wilderness Lodge ...We named him Coda...And he sits proudly on our bed.. waiting

I use all the change that I have saved up during the year and get gift cards with that plus we have our rewards dollars from the Visa cards. Whatever I have is what I spend. My daughter gets new ears and pins every year, I get some Alex and Ani bracelets and my husband usually goes for some shirts. We usually do not go to nuts!

I always balance spending on "stuff" with getting to have new experiences. Overall if I can reduce my "stuff" spending in order to increase my experience spending, I'll do it every time.

I tell Scrappy, "If you see it and you like it, get it, because it may not be here next time" , and that has happened a lot.

I've tried to not buy as much 'stuff' over the last few trips! Things I've bought in the past have simply ended up in storage boxes or in wardrobes, rarely coming out often. I either spend my money on experiences - so meals, tours, trips etc, or on things that I can savor and enjoy - i.e. food, food, drink and more food. The physical things I buy tend to be really sentimental, so Christmas tree ornaments or jewellery!
