Here's some renderings of the new art of animation resort. I think it looks really cool

The pictures remind me a lot of Pop Century.

I'm kind of sad that legendary years will never come to be. But I'm excited they're building something new.

I was really interested to see what they would look like. When they first came out with the idea in '02 or '03 I was really intrigued. I wondered what they would do for the '10s or the 1900's. Oh well..this resort looks awesome and will probably appeal to more people.

Hmm, I'm a little concerned by all the construction noise on the video. I hope when I'm in Pop Century the construction is really loud the whole time! I guess I'll mostly be out during the day though so I'll get over it.

The pictures of the resort look good though!

Peg -- try to stay more toward the front of the resort and you won't have too much problem. Smile

Was legendary years a concept, or was it half built then abandoned? I saw some aerial shots the other day on another site that looked like a resort that had been abandoned during construction. Is that where they're building Art of Animation? I sure hope so. I super hate for things to be abandoned or to go to waste.

Yep, legendary years was part built where the new resort is going now. Construction was stopped shortly after 9/11 when the bottom fell out of the tourism market for a couple of years.
As much as I like the concept for the new resort, I wish they'd completed the old one. Pop century is only 5 decades now, not a complete century.

Lizzy the Legendary years was supposed to be the second half of the "century" and was being built to open after the current pop century was built. Unfortunately that is when the bombing of the World Trade Center ocurred, and it induced a sharp drop in travel and room rentals plummeted so Disney abandoned the project and just left the construction unattended, and I presume "mothballed" for close to 10 years until just recently when they announced that they were resuming the construction but were changing the theme from "The legendary years" (1900 to 1940 or 1950 I forget which) to the "art of Animation and that MOST of the project was going to be built as family suites because of the popularity of the suites that they have in Pop.

Edit note** I guess I was typing at the same time as Tony. I'm just a slower typist Smile
