Be Our Guest --- No Reservations after July 1st

Last night I tried to make dinner reservations @ Be Our Guest for our August trip, online wasn't showing any dates available. Not shocked, but I did call and spoke with a rep.. They told me as of July 1st Be Our Guest is no longer taking dinner reservations, but this could change in the future... mad
Curious if anyone has read or heard of something going on, Disney rep obviously wouldn't elaborate..

Final

The Disney Food Blog team has been following this fairly closely, but no one is quite sure what is happening. There are a few rumors swirling around, with the front runner being that it's going to become a 2 table credit dinner. Again, that's just a rumor, but Magic Kingdom is currently the only Park without a signature dining experience. Be Our Guest is also currently undergoing a kitchen refurbishment to better accommodate the popularity, we saw the beginning of that with the switch to paper plates for breakfast and lunch service.

Obviously something is going on, but Disney is not really saying what, and cast members that DFB have spoken to have given a broad range of responses.

Is this recent Kristen? We had breakfast there in January and the food was served on regular plates.

I've heard speculation too that it might be come a pre fixe menu at dinner (similar to Akershus) where it is the same price per person no matter what you ordered. Quiet a few people have been working the system by making a dinner reservation and only ordering cupcakes in order to meet the Beast.

Seriously?! eek Now I've heard everything.

It's already similar to that for breakfast - $25 for adults and $14 for kids. I am in flavour of that idea.

I hadn't heard that one. I can be down with that.

I don't remember the date we were discussing it but yes, very recently. One of the cast members said something about a new dish washing system being installed so I assume it is a temporary move.

Yup. People recommend it on some of the Facebook groups I'm on all the time. All I can say is you better be leaving your server a tip comparable to a full meal... waiting

Announced to day...BOTH predicted changes are coming. It will be a prix fixe meal AND a signature meal starting July 27th. $55 for adults and $35 for kids or two table service credits. Three course meal with app, entree, and dessert. The new offerings look awesome and we'll probably give Be Our Guest a second chance with this change. We were not a big fan of our meal when we went in February 2017.

Hey Allie, what is your documentation for 2 credits? Would you share with me?

Know DFB is still trying to confirm the 2 table credits part.

And this was my comment on the DFB:

These sound like some really amazing dishes but I can't imagine this being pulled off at Be Our Guest. I have liked some of the meals we have had there over the years, but it's always been one of those restaurants that you go to to see the restaurant, not necessarily go to it for the food. They have to be doing this just to be able to say that there is a Signature/Fine dining option inside the Magic Kingdom. If they get this to work and are able to say it is comparable it to any Signature/Fine dining restaurant on property, I will truly believe there was Magic involved.

Touche. I really hope them switching to a signature dining experience raises the standard...but we also could end up with another Cinderella's Royal Table where you're paying a premium price of the experience and not as much the food. Honestly, that's how I feel about the restaurant as is right now. They currently charge $35 for a steak that I thought was very, very subpar at best.

That's what was posted on the Dis's website, WDWInfo.com though I'm not sure where they got this information.

OK, that's cool. I don't usually use those sites to confirm things. They tend to deal in rumor a little more than I like.

Is it weird that I don't feel like having a full pre-fix meal should qualify as fine dining? It might be just me, but if I am paying a premium I want everything cooked to order. BOG in the past has always been about getting as many people as possible in and out. Though I admit I have only done breakfast and lunch there.

Totally get it! I should have looked for some more sources before posting Smile The email that went out to travel agents didn't list any pricing information.

Since BOG is moving to a Signature dining experience, I'm very curious to see if they will offer a full bar and not just beer and wine? Especially since it will cost 2 table service Dining credits (verified on the Disney Park's Blog site in the Q&A's).

Thanks!

$55 for the pre-fixe (confirmed by DFB) or 2 table credits?
That is extremely unequal to what I spend when eating at Tiffins or California Grill.
Not a lot of value there IMHO. I guess I'll be sticking with Breakfast and Lunch.

Totally agree it's not worth the two credits. We'll pay OOP when we go.
