Been There...Missed That...Dang...

Ok folks..I've just read today's food blog and the review of CHH and it's Veg Chilli..It looks awesome, and under $5.00 is now on my must try list..This article reminded me of a friend who had been to Le Cellier 3 times yet managed to miss out on their Cheddar soup until they read a review about this signature dish and is now a favourite of theirs..Have you ever been to a restaurant at Disney and missed out on something that everyone else swears on.?..Then on your next trip try it and wish you had found it the first time...I've a few that come to mind...The biggest mistake was it took 3 visits to PORS before I heard about the MCB ( Magic Cookie Bar ) eek.. I know, terrible...

Yeah, we have been to Le Cellier many times but never ordered the cheese soup. We are from Wisconsin where that particular item is on the local menus quite often so it's just not that appealing. I also have their recipe so I cut down the size and made it one cold winter day for the family and their response was: "It's cheese soup...."

I had been to MK a few times on choir trips but didn't know about Dole Whips until I read it in a guide book.
I have not had the Kobe beef hamburgers.....and we will be there in Sept at PrimeTime so we will see.

I still haven't eaten the Magic Cookie bar, even though I've known about it for a couple of years. I've also never even been to Le Cellier even though people have raved about it for decades. laugh

I can't believe it has taken us so many trips to finally try school bread in Norway!

By the way KF, I had the veg chili on our first trip, and loved it. That was an early January trip, though. Haven't been able to get myself to get it again, because it is always too hot outside to think of chili. Have you tried the lighthouse sandwich at CHH? That one is a family favorite, and perfect when it is too hot to eat something hot.

I can't really speak too much considering except for Earl of Sandwich, there's nothing really else I eat on a repeat basis though Tangerine Cafe, Sunshine Seasons, Flame Tree BBQ and Be Our Guest will certainly be must eat repeats for future trips, as well as Earl of Sandwich.

But anyway, there are a lot of foods I wished I could have discovered earlier. I guess that's one the pros of not going every year. You have more time to research food! biggrin I think the biggest one was that Dole Whip shockingly. Never knew it existed on my past trips. I mean, I did watch Unwrapped on Food Network and a bunch of Disney World related videos that originally aired on TV via YouTube but the Dole Whip was never really mentioned. I discovered the glorious treat online about 2-3 years before my last trip in 2013 on general Disney discussion forum.

Considering I always get the Full Montagu at Earl of Sandwich, I'm almost very certain once I've tried the Holiday sandwich, that will be another food I wished I never passed on. Then again, before the Holiday sandwich was a permament item on the menu, I was unable to get the sandwich because I never went during the holidays. But anyway, next trip, holiday and Full Montagu sandwiches for me. No excuses. yay

Dole Whip... I know I know I know.... I somehow got the citrus swirl which I loved but we missed out on Dole Whip last time. This will NOT be the case this November and I am going to have it plain and... why is the rum gone? Because it will be in my Dole Whip!!!!!!!!

On our April trip, I had my first ever cream cheese pretzel. I missed it on this trip because ADR timing/walking by a pretzel stand timing just didn't work out, but many pretzels will be consumed in September...

I've yet to try to waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow! It's a must do for September!

So far I mostly just regret not knowing all the wonderful snack options that were available! I've only been on one real trip inside the parks, but I had no idea some things like school bread or the cupcakes really existed, so I'm very excited to try those in September.

Never mind that I knew about Dole Whips and still didn't get one because we only really went through Adventureland once so the opportunity never really presented itself. waiting

I've still never had a dole whip. But this weekend we want to get Dole whips at AK. DH will get his w/ the coconut rum and I'll get a plain one, so we can try both kinds.

Oddly, these are two that don't toot my whistle either. The Zebra Dome is one of the DH's likes, and since I am the coffee drinker and he is not, that is odd. At least someone else won't look at me and think I must have lost my taste buds. Thanks

We didn't eat at Earl of Sandwich until April 2013. Hubby went back twice last November. Unfortunately we missed it on our April 2014 trip, but we will rectify the situation this fall.

We also didn't eat at 'Ohana until the same April trip last year, but now that restaurant has replaced Boma as our must-do buffet/family style meal.

Our biggest must-do is the Food and Wine Festival, though. Half of our trips, including one of the two upcoming, have coincided with that event. And now I'll throw the Flower and Garden Festival into the mix, since the outdoor kitchens are like a mini-F&W Fest.

I know this is probably blasphemous, but I am not a "frosting" person, so while I see the cupcakes and admire how wonderful they look, I tend not to go there. Sick Now....find me a fruit filled something and I will steal it from your hands! Big smile
