Cancelation and Rebooking!

We had planned on spending 5 nights at WDW in June this year. However the event we were going to was postponed, so I had to cancel my reservations. That was the trip that we were going to stay at Bay Lake Tower I was so excited about. That's okay though, it's rescheduled for Spring 2013 so as soon as I hit 11 months out I'll rebook again.

However, because we're DVC Members I had done some creative point accounting to book at BLT and had to move a large number of points to my current use year. Once you move the points, that's it, they can't be moved back. So, since we got into a use it or lose it situation, we had to quickly come up with a new trip for 2012.

I worked *SO* hard on finding a cruise that we could go on with the points and some cash. Because honestly, it would have been less expensive to book a cruise than just go to WDW anyhow. However, as hard as I tried I just couldn't make it work. Mostly because you can't sail during the last four months of your use year. Then my room mate came up with a brilliant idea, he said "How about California?"

How fantastic, I love Disneyland! Before I called DVC Member Services to try and book, I came up with several different options that would be within our point budget. My first choice was a 2 bedroom at Grand Californian, however at just 5 months uot, I figured it would be a snowball's chance in you know where. I've never heard anything but that you have to book 11 months out to get a VGC room. However, I asked and they actually had room for us!!

Whoo hoo! We're going to Disneyland! I'm so very excited!! We get to stay in a 2 bedroom Villa at the Grand Californian!
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Now here's the worst part of all. Disneyland has no fabulous meal plan, and the cost of food for six people is going to be $800 more than if we did WDW on deluxe dining. SO crazy! I understand that 70% of the traffic at Disneyland is local & weekenders, but I wish that they offered something like they do at WDW. The dining plan just makes my life *so* much easier. I thought about cooking and eating in the room some, but it's my vacation too, right? I am not cooking. I'll just be sucking it up and crying every time I get the bill. sarcastic

I can't wait to hear all about it, Kristen! I really want to go there someday, and I would love to stay at the Grand Californian and eat at Napa Rose!

Thanks everyone! I'm really looking forward to this trip. Disneyland is probably my favorite park of all. I will absolutely write a report when I get back! I'm going to try and run a webcam out our window from the room too. If I'm lucky we'll have a park view.

Lizzy I would LOVE to eat at Napa Rose, but with 6 people traveling I just don't think that will happen unless hubby's bonus is extra big this year. LoL... not holding my breath on that one.
