FastPass+ At the Kiosks

Does anyone have any experience with scheduling their FastPass+ reservations without a smart phone? How was it? Are the Kiosks easy to find? Did you have to wait in line to do it? Are they the same location as the DAS passes get scheduled?

Mandy? Can you shed any light on this?

I have scheduled my fastpass+ reservations without a smart phone. I find it easy but that's probably because I have worked with the system for a over a year almost everyday. The kiosks are easy to find. They are on the park maps. You will have to have to wait in line but the line shouldn't be very long. No they are not at the same location as the DAS passes. Some of the kiosk locations are in the same area as the paper fastpass machines.

The Disney boyfriend and I were onsite in September last year and had an extra FastPass+ or two to book on a few of our days (some of the members of our group decided that they didn't want to join us, so we ended up deviating from our FastPass+ choices and ended up with extras Smile ), so we attempted to use the FastPass+ kiosks. It was not a great time.

We only had experiences with them later in the afternoons, so this may not be the case first thing in the mornings, but there were always lines, the mounted tablets that they used were often extremely overheated and therefore slow as molasses, and the choices for FastPass+ attractions were often the less popular meet n' greets or attractions that didn't have wait times to begin with.

We were there one evening for MNSSHP in late September and the lines at the Tomorrow Land kiosks were honestly upwards of 30 minutes.

As I mentioned we had no experience with them first thing in the morning - but I'd suggest sticking with the My Disney mobile app, or booking in the hotel the evening before with the free wifi. Better than taking your chances with the in-park kiosks.

Thanks so much for your input Nyxess! My son doesn't have a smart phone, so we're not entirely sure right now how this all will work for him when he heads off on his own.

I think if it's going to be the kiosks or bust the earlier you hit them up the better. I didn't see many lines near them in the mornings - so probably have better selection and chances of getting what you're looking for Smile

Katie has been freaking out a bit because her app and mine keep saying different things when it comes to the Character Meet and Greets. She is a HUGE Peter Pan fan and we haven't seen him in 3 trips! It's the one thing she wants to do above all others and the app doesn't seem to be working right. We're not all that impressed so far, but then we haven't left home yet.

First thing in the morning there is a better chance of getting the attractions he may want but if the park is busy, there may not be much left fastpass wise. It also depends on the park as well. First couple hours of the park being open, there shouldn't be lines since most Disney guests set up their fastpasses ahead of time. Lines start happening around 12-1 when most finish up there first three fastpasses.

What do you mean by it keeps saying different things? Peter Pan now greets in Adventureland by Tinkerbells old nook in the mornings/early afternoon in Magic Kingdom. I don't think he's on the times guide.

I will check the app on my phone and it will tell me that one or two characters are out, she'll sit right next to me and check the characters on her phone and it tell her a dozen completely different characters are out. Not every time, but it will read different data at least twice a day. We're both on iPhone 5's and using the same network both via cell and wifi. Other times in the middle of the day we'll check the app and it says no characters are out at all. It's just not working the way it should.

I've been hoping that the problem stems from us checking from home vs. while in the park.

We were there in September as well and had quite the opposite experience. We only ever used the kiosks in the late morning/afternoon/evening to schedule additional Fastpasses after our initial 3, but we never had a single line nor did we have any other issues. The kiosks were super easy to find on the resort maps, too.

Count us in for vacation with you next time! Laughing out loud

That doesn't sound right. It might be just because you're at home. At least I hopr that's the reason.

I hope so too Mandy, we plan on using it heavily in the Park. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

I walked by Peter Pan twice before noticing his meet and greet spot. His spot is like Tiana's, easy to miss if you don't know where he is. He's to the right, just before Aloha Isle as you enter Adventureland. Also, he is hilarious, very much in character and when I was there the line was very short so I got lots of time to talk to him.

The app. On my phone in the park was hit and miss on character meets....and the Disney flyers were off too.... they added some while we were in the park .....the app only seemed to show morning sessions on meets and not later ones.....
