Photo Pass and a Torn Up Hub

Has anyone noticed where the PhotoPass photographers have been hanging out lately? Is my dream of one last family picture in from of the Castle before my older kids move away going to be ruined by hub construction? I've told them over and over the only thing I insist that we do on our trip is get that picture, but then this morning I saw pictures of the hub and I'm crushed.

The partners statue is covered with a box, there are walls up around the entire back section. I'm feeling crushed at the moment, it looks awful. There are even walls up in front of the Train station, so that might not be a good alternative option either. Thank god I made a FastPass+ for us all to see Mickey together, it might be the only thing that saves my family picture.

Oh no! I can see why you are worried, I suppose that there may be some photo pass people by those front walls looking up at a steepish angle (?) or at least on Main Street with the castle further in the background (?)

With 28 days on your ticker I will keep my fingers crossed that either you get some good photos or that at least a couple of the walls are finished and removed.

You might not be able to get the perfect family photo in front of Cinderella's Castle...

But you CAN get a once-in-a-lifetime photo of your family in front of the hub construction. The last family photo before your older kids move away in front of something that will likely never happen again, which will frame this moment in time perfectly. Turn it into something special instead of a bummer.

Once that's done, I'll bet you can also find at least one good view of the Castle without the construction.

Kristen, I am quite upset about this as well. The place is a disaster. And apparently there wont even be any shows in front of the Castle as well? This hub construction has been taking forever!

Katie is pretty bummed about the shows too. I just have to remind myself that this too will pass. I'll go through the hub once in the morning, once at night and the rest of the time we'll just avoid it. We just added Memory Maker to our trip so hopefully we'll get a nice picture someplace else. Like I said we have an early FastPass+ with Mickey, everyone will be fresh and pretty plus - MICKEY. He's part of the family anyhow.

How about a cool magic shot? All squished on a bench with stitch, holding tink, or like cdnsquirrel all of you with tink wings?

In October I noticed that you can ask photopass guys to do something different, I got a shot by the Hollywood studios sign where Goofy normally stands because he was still on a break. How about I front of a shop window that has a cool display?

I agree with crazycatperson, you can make it special. You could even consider castle shots as common and get something wacky?

I'm sure we'll get some of those - they're pretty cool, but I want a nice family portrait with everyone and that's not quite what I have in mind.

What about a nice family picture on the walkway to Tomorrowland. You can still have the Castle in the background. The view of the Castle isn't as nice as from Main Street but at least you wouldn't have any of the mess of the Hub redo in the picture.

I'm hoping that will be an option, or that they have a photo pass photographer over at the Liberty Square bridge (I love that view). One way or another I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

MK hub was never that meaningful to me lol! There are thousands of really cool places all around Disney, usually not anywhere near the typical photo spots. Make your own memories!

I was going to suggest the Tomorrowland bridge as well. Its one of my favorite places for a castle pic.. Or maybe on the back side of the castle? Its harder to get the whole castle from there but the details on the back really are beautiful, especially at night if you're there.

But I definitely feel your frustration, if it were me I would be so bummed about the construction walls. They were bad enough in October, but still manageable.

Kristen - we were there yesterday and the hub is still all closed off but I didn't see any walls in front of the train station. Who knows, the centre hub area could be back to normal when you arrive?

This is one of my favorite places for a photo. This is my daughter. Also have one with my oldest granddaughter and one with my goofy husband. laugh

awesome

Also, you may have to get your shot a little closer to the castle than normal, but it looks like if you're right in front of the castle, you might be able to get a construction-free shot. It does look like the construction has become more intrusive into the central hub area. We were concerned about the state of the project last fall, but honestly, the work was being done in such a way that it didn't interfere as much as we expected. Hopefully you'll find that it doesn't disrupt the sight lines as much in person. Maybe MagicMirror will be able to shed some light on the progress when she gets home.

how about a shot of you all sitting on the bench with Roy and Minnie? Or with Talking Mickey at Town Square Theatre?

Apparently we JUST missed them blocking off the castle, they began putting up walls the day we left, so I guess we got lucky. There will still be photographers on Main Street, I usually saw at least three along the street between the train station and the hub.

Alternatively, there are also photographers on either side of the castle, on the paths that go uphill just to the left and right of the castle who can take a shot of you and your loved one with the side of the castle (which still looks amazing) as a backdrop.

Perfect! I love the view from the Liberty Square path there.

I just got home today so I havent had time to pull up photo pass pics...but when we were at MK there were two photographers closer to the castle than i remembered on Main St. Facing the castle and hub....and it appeared when they took the shots they were aiming on an angle upwards....so.....perhaps they are cutting the hub out. I can let you know better when i review ours....hopefully this weekend. Also, at HS , they are now shooting all pics towards the front Crossroads....to avoid the hat, which was down to its last rim when we left.
