Old standby or something new?

Starting to plan our 10 year anniversary trip for next October, and Disney threw a curve-ball at me! We've always stayed at Wilderness Lodge, and there wasn't any question, before, about where we would stay for this trip. But when I did a preliminary check online to get a rough idea of pricing, the Yacht Club popped up and it wasn't much more than WL, or at least there wasn't as big of a difference as I thought there would be. This got me thinking.....
We love WL, its small footprint, how close it is to MK, and the alternative transportation options (we avoid the buses at all possible opportunities). BUT, EPCOT is our favorite park, we'll be there during the F&WF, and there are definitely more transportation options at YC.
Anyone who has stayed in both, pros and cons? Or, convince me to stay at WL or try something new at YC. Wink

I've stayed at the WL and only visited and eaten at the YC. I would have to say, stay at the YC and experience someplace new. You never know, it might become your favorite awesome

Besides, the YC is right next to EPCOT and all the nightlife of the Boardwalk area. Party

But you can't go wrong with either choices mickey

Though I love our Animal Kingdom Lodge home, I've been trying to stay at alternate resorts on my last several trips. I think it's good to break out of your Disney comfort zone and explore all that the property has to offer!

I've never stayed at either but I think you should stay at Yacht Club. Since it's your 10th anniversary you should stay somewhere different to make the trip even more special mickey

Well this October was our first stay at WL...We loved it for its theme..location ..AP restaurant ..the boat crossing to MK..But then again, the Kingdom is our favourite park by a mile..So if Epcot is your favourite park I would opt for YC..

We stayed in the YC this past May for one night. We asked for a pool, lagoon view and we got upgraded to Club Level. In our opinion, Club Level there is not worth it. The Club Level lounge is very small and does not have a whole lot of options. Just wanted to throw that out there is case you were considering. The rooms and resort or very nice and the view was awesome. If you like EPCOT and the Food & Wine Festival, it should be a no brainer to us.

I think Yacht Club is very elegant! I feel like I should wear an ascot when there, or maybe a polo and some docksiders with no socks. mickey

We've never stayed at either resort (yet), but if it were my choice I'd go with Yacht Club just for the proximity to Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival.

We adore the WL for the theme and the boat-ride to MK too! The first and last days, it's so nice to be so close to MK (as much as EPCOT is our favorite park, MK IS Disney to me) to maintain that Magic WDW Bubble. mickey Having to ride a bus to MK on the first day was one of the marks against YC. Just a standard view room for us. We never spend that much time in the room, so it's all about the location. We sure wouldn't turn down an upgrade though. crossfingers biggrin

Maybe we need to buy some Lacoste polos and pop those collars! Cool

Definitely! The idea of being able to just hop back to the hotel in a matter of minutes after or even during the F&WF is AWESOME! awesome

Definitely the YC for the proximity to Epcot! We've stayed the past 3 times at the Boardwalk and loved it. This coming trip, we are staying at the YC and are looking forward to it. clapping

Yacht Club for the ability to walk to Epcot (and HS if you don't mind a little more distance). We are starting to think about our next trip and its between Yacht Club or Wilderness Lodge if we can't score a studio villa at GFV. No matter what you do report back! I would love to hear what you think

I haven't stayed at either but I do think both resorts have their qualities. WL is not as pricey compared to the deluxe resorts, at least from a standard room perspective. But since you really value the proximity to Epcot, then YC wins in that regard. Plus Beach Club is right next door and the Boardwalk resort area isn't too far away either.
