Hmmmmmm...was just thinking about Disney employment this morning...in the context of a "retirement" job. I'd like to be a CM with the Disney Florists or the Horticultural dept. Not that it would be "easy" work and the horticulture hours are horrible (nights!!!). But I love gardening so much it wouldn't seem like work!

Is your home garden impressive?

Used to be when we had our house in NY. I had just finished a 3 yr landscape redesign and then we put the house on the market and moved to Orlando. Broke my heart, but I'm sure there is another garden in my future. This one will be designed to be a bit more drought tolerant so as to make trips to WDW easier...more spontaneous...tough to find someone who wants to spend hours standing there with a hose Smile)

millie: I'm a bit of an armchair gardener. I don't actually garden, but I like to read about it and plan. Do you read any sites on gardening or anything?

I subscribe to a couple of gardening eNewsletters. GardenGate.com is one that I like. We also have several nice public gardens here that I visit. I'm lucky in that my office is a quick walk to the university's gorgeous public gardens. A wonderful place to have lunch when I can get away!

I think being on the horticulture team at WDW would be amazing! I'd want to work in Animal Kingdom or on the Flower and GArden Festival!

Okay, I've actually thought about this question before so if I wasn't retired I'd probably want to work for DVC and sell memberships (timeshares). I think it's a great product and don't think I'd have trouble convincing people to buy from me. biggrin

Now if I'm retired then I think I'd like to work in the Mexican pavillion so that I can eat tacos and have margaritas everynight.

Okay, so maybe that wouldn't be the best idea as I'd probably become an alcoholic so next best retiree job is driving the little boat between Beach Club and Epcot or Wilderness Lodge on Bay Lake. Or, well just about anywhere except mousekeeping would probably be alright with me. mickey

I think one drink per night is supposed to be good for you, right? So as long as it's singular "Margarita" every night, you should be good!

One job I have always wanted at WDW is to be tinkerbell and jump off the castle to start the fireworks show.

I realize that I am too tall and probably weigh a little more than that wire will hold, but it is still a dream.

You are a braver person than I! Have you ever tried bungee jumping or zip-lining?

I think that drink is supposed to be red wine, no? Haven't heard tequila mentioned in any of those studies you hear about on CNN headliners. sarcastic

I have not tried bungee jumping, but I have done zip-lining, repelling, and tree top course with rope walking . . . I LOVE it!

Did you have to do this for some event or something? Or did you just go out and find a place to do it? I think I'd be nervous.

Being one of the monkeys in Festival of the Lion King would be awesome...sadly I'm not quite in the right physical shape for it right now. wink
