Your Favourite CS at HS..

After reading about HS on another thread, I was thinking of food..( surprise surprise ) And where we go for a quick counter service meal..Now my early morning hit is always Starring Rolls for a coffee and a cake...But come lunch time my favourite is Backlot Express..There's always plenty of seats and I've yet to be disappointed with the food...So where in HS do you go for your CS meal.?..And what would you recommend.?..

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of any DHS counter-service restaurant. The Asian salad at ABC Commissary isn't bad. Same with the pizza at Toy Story Pizza Planet. But there are no counter-service places that I eagerly anticipate visiting while at DHS. In fact, if time permits I'll park-hop to Epcot, which has many interesting counter-service options.

I find myself going to Backlot Express a lot for lunch. I also go to ABC Commissary and Sunset Ranch Market. I've been to Pizza Planet only a handful of times and nothing at Studio Catering Company has sounded good.

I wasn't impressed with any of them either. Wasn't bad...just not something I would say, "Oooohhh we have to go there."

It's not the best food but I like to try to switch things up. If I don't want to go to Backlot, I go to ABC. It does the job. I enjoyed what I got there a couple months ago.

I'm completely underwhelmed by the food at HS, but I have found the choices passable at ABC and Pizza Planet. I am anxious to try Starring Rolls for lunch. I wanted to go there for dinner on my last trip, but alas, I did not realize that they close after lunch. We usually take a mid-day break on HS day and grab at least one of our meals elsewhere.

We like the sandwiches at Starring Rolls - add in the red velvet cupcake, and it's a perfect lunch. biggrin

I really like Pizza Planet. We went to Studio Catering Co for the first time during our trip last week and i liked my meal. I haven't tried ABC or Backlot Express

I haven't eaten at many counter service restaurants in WDW. My mom and I split a sandwich at Backlot Express last week which was pretty good.

Nothing at HS really stands out for CS. I've dined at ABC and Pizza Planet and well, those were not the smartest choices I made. From what I've heard, Starring Rolls is the best one but they close early and their menu is limited in terms of things you can get actually for lunch. From what I understand, they have two sandwiches and some assorted sushi. But they do have some pretty savory cupcakes! The Butterfinger Cupcake from what I've heard is one of the best cupcakes on property! Other than that, Backlot Express is widely considered to be the "best of the worst" so to speak. The Disney Food Blog recommends their buffalo chicken nuggets and grilled vegetable sandwich.

When we go to HS we usually get several snacks, in lieu of a meal because they don't have great quick service food, but they have some really great snack choices. Our favorites are starring rolls cupcakes. I love the red velvet and hubby likes the butterfinger. For an afternoon or evening snack we get a jalapeno and cheese pretzel for me and a sweet cream cheese pretzel for hubby. These are two very filling snacks and better than any counter service food we've had at HS. We usually hop parks and get a full meal somewhere else.

I'm looking forward to trying the outside dining area at the Brown Derby. Reservations not required or accepted.

The only CS I've had at DHS is Starring Rolls and Pizza Planet. We normally hop over to Epcot for lunch on our DHS day, though I'm planing on trying the Mac & cheese hot dog at Fairfax Faire next trip.

Fairfax Fare does a pretty good breakfast sandwich, which we have had a couple of times. I'd like to try Starring Rolls Cafe and the Writer's Stop next trip.

Starring Rolls and Writer's Stop are every trip spots for me, but not for a meal! HS has some of the best bakery items on property in my opinion.

And another perk for Writer's Stop - it is considered a merchandise shop, so you get the food items at the AP or DVD discount too! Every 10% helps, no? mickey
