Disney's Art of Animation Resort is Now Open
Disney's Art of Animation Resort officially opened to the public last week with guest being able to stay in the Finding Nemo section. Disney's newest resort is adjacent to Pop Century, but will have it's own bus transportation in addition to featuring 1,120 family suites that will sleep up to 6.
While staying at Art of Animation, guest will immediately feel like they have stepped into the worlds of their favorite Disney/Pixar characters. As you enter the lobby, you're surrounded by scenes from the movies Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Cars and The Lion King. Even the chandelier is composed of animated storyboards!
Frank Paris, a Walt Disney Imagineer says, "Our goal is to make guests feel like they have been immersed in the artistry and enchantment of Walt Disney and Disney*Pixar animated classics."
Both children and adults will enjoy the "Big Blue" pool, which is the largest swimming pool at Walt Disney World Resort measuring 11,859 square feet. Everything is larger than life and guests will feel like they are little Nemo exploring the colorful reef with a giant-sized Mr. Ray whose wings span 27 feet! You can pose for a picture with Crush or frolic with Squirt in the Righteous Reef, an interactive children's play area. There are also two additional pools, the Cozy Cone Pool in the Cars section and the Flippin' Fins Pool in The Little Mermaid section. If you're not looking to get wet, you can explore the Pixel Play Arcade in the lobby.
We had the chance to check out the Finding Nemo family suites which include two bathrooms, a kitchenette and three separate sleeping areas. There is a master bedroom with a queen-size bed and a bathroom, a double-size sleeper sofa and a unique double-size Inova TableBed which folds down from the wall. Included in the kitchenette is a microwave, coffee maker and a compact refrigerator.
Dining options for the Art of Animation Resort include the Landscape of Flavors food court which will feature items like mini cupcakes, pastrami cheeseburgers and Mongolian beef stir fry! The food court is broken into different themed sections like the rest of the resort. Other options for dining include The Drop Off Pool Bar at the "Big Blue" pool and of course, pizza delivery.
The Finding Nemo family suites opened last week, Cars family suites will be opening June 18 and The Lion King family suites will be opening Aug. 10. Standard guest rooms make up The Little Mermaid section which will open on Sept. 15.
During the Value Season, prices will range from $94 a night for the standard Little Mermaid Rooms to $249 a night for the family suites.
