Patricia Disney Dead At Age 77

Patricia A. Disney died theis past Friday, February 3, of Alzheimer's disesae. She was the ex-wife of Roy E. Disney, Walt Disney's nephew; the two were married for over 50 years.

Born in New Orleans in 1935, Patricia moved to Toluca Lake, California, at the age of 6. There, she grew up as a neighbor of Roy Disney. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and worked in New York in the advertising field before marrying Disney in 1955. The two went on to have four children and divorced in 2007.

A statement from Robert Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Co., said of Patricia:

We will always remember her irrepressible spirit and dedication to our company. Patty was known for her kindness, outgoing nature, and especially for her philanthropy.

Among those works of philanthropy was a donation of $10 million to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, that helped create the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center.
