A Review: Lunch at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom

One of my favorite quick service lunches in all of Walt Disney World is at Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom. Between the incredible theming inside the restaurant and the delicious menu options, it really is a must-have Advance Dining Reservation on every visit.

As soon as we planned our Disney vacation I hopped on the Disney Parks website and searched out a lunch reservation at Be Our Guest. Why? Because that's basically the only way you're going to eat there. Yes, it's a Quick Service restaurant at lunch and dinner but you MUST get an Advance Dining Reservation.

I lucked out and was able to book a lunch there on our last day at the Magic Kingdom. Honestly, I planned our park days around this ADR.

The last time we dined at Be Our Guest it was for breakfast and it was not the best experience between lukewarm food and "meh" menu options. This time we were headed there for lunch and I was super excited! While you can pre-order your meals at BOG, I decided to not to pre-order due to my kids' food allergies.

We arrived at the outside kiosk about 15 minutes prior to our reservation time to check in, and then it was time to stand in a short line in the 105 degree heat. Thankfully we were quickly ushered inside and were sent to a cast member to order.

On our last few visits to Be Our Guest the chef came out to speak with us directly about the food allergies, but Disney has completely updated its food allergy system so the cast member was able to see exactly which items were safe for our allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seed, shellfish, and gluten).

The kids both decided on the French Dip Sandwich, minus the bread (even though a gluten-free bread option was available and it was actually given to one daughter). My oldest also skipped the French Fries as they weren't a good GF option and ordered mashed potatoes with her sliced roast beef (which is what you get when you go sans bread on a French Dip Sandwich).

Being gluten free, my oldest wasn't able to order the Master's Cupcake or even just the Grey Stuff (as that has wheat in it!). But the youngest can eat gluten so she was able to enjoy a cupcake (I LOVE that the desserts are allergy friendly here).

There was a second cast member helping out with the order taking and he actually delivered both of the allergy-safe meals to our table. I love that kind of service. He said he wanted to make sure that everything was perfect for the girls. Our meals arrived on the cart about 5 minutes later.

I decided to order something new to me so I went with the Croque Monsieur, a grilled sandwich with carved ham, bechamel, and Gruyere cheese. My husband ordered the Braised Pork, and after sampling his dish I kicked myself for not ordering that! It was delicious!

The Croque Monsieur was delicious too, thanks to the delicious multi-grain bread and gooey cheese. Although, I would have liked a bit more cheese - but that's just me. The Braised Pork was fork tender, cooked perfectly, and it's what I'm ordering the next time I dine at Be Our Guest.

For dessert I went with the Master's Cupcake, of course. I can't bring myself to order anything else.

Now let's talk about the atmosphere for a bit. On previous visits to BOG we dined in the ballroom, which is my favorite room in the restaurant. It's big and busy and loud but it's also gorgeous! This time the kids wanted to dine inside the West Wing. This room is much smaller and is often full, but we lucked into a table near the rose.

A few words about this room: The West Wing is dark. Very dark. Like, it's hard to see your food dark. But, being able to gaze upon the enchanted rose and watch the painting of Beast transform each time it thunders makes up for the darkness. Almost. ;-)

If I have one recommendation for this room it is to NOT sit directly next to the enchanted rose unless you want other guests standing in your personal space throughout your meal. Thankfully our table was closer to the painting of Beast and the fireplace so my personal space was safe.

Our meal at Be Our Guest was one of the best we had during our Disney World vacation thanks to great service and great food. It was definitely the second best quick service meal we enjoyed (second only to Satu'li Canteen in Pandora). Lunch at BOG remains delicious and, as always, Disney nailed it with their allergy-friendly options and great cast member service.
