Top 10 Savory Snacks at the Magic Kingdom

Updated August 2018!

A couple weeks ago we talked about the best sweet snacks at the Magic Kingdom but today we're talking about the salty and savory snacks that we can't resist. As much as we love a Dole Whip, there are days when nothing but a bucket of Disney World popcorn will do. And as great as a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar tastes, something you just need French fries.

And just like the sweet snacks, maybe our top 10 isn't the same as your top 10. We'd love to hear what you snack on when you're at the Magic Kingdom so be sure to leave us a comment! And so, in no particular order, we present the top 10 savory snacks at the Magic Kingdom.

10. Egg Rolls: This might seem like an odd choice since we're not talking about Epcot, but there is an egg roll cart in Adventureland (usually open seasonally) and you'll find pork egg rolls on the menu. Recently our friends at the Disney Food Blog also found Cheeseburger Spring Rolls which looked delicious! When you've had your share of fries, an egg roll is a great choice.

9. Baked Potato: You might be thinking this is an odd choice but we love that you can find piping hot baked potatoes (and sweet potatoes) at the Liberty Square Market. They are the perfect light lunch and they make a great afternoon snack when you need some carbs to keep you going. The baked potatoes are served with "butter" spread, sour cream, and even cheese.

8. Loaded Tots: Currently the Friar's Nook in Fantasyland is serving up some scrumptious Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots that are topped with chopped Buffalo chicken, chopped celery, bleu cheese crumbles, and a bit of garlic ranch dressing. The salty, crispy tater tots are full of flavor and a great choice if you want a shareable snack or a quick dinner.

7. Waffle Sandwich: As much as we love the Nutella Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, the savory sandwiches are favorites for a mid-afternoon snack or meal. You'll find several options including Sweet and Spicy Chicken or Prosciutto, Tomato, and Swiss. We love the Sweet and Spicy Chicken!

6. Turkey Leg: Ah, the Turkey Leg. The quintessential must-try-it-once in our lifetime Disney snack. The smoked turkey legs are huge and salty and full of calories (more than 1,000!), so we recommend sharing this snack with a friend or four. Or be adventurous and do your own Disney food challenge.

5. Bread Stick and Tomato Soup: We love Pinocchio's Village Haus for lunch but sometimes you just need a doughy snack to get you through the afternoon and the Breadsticks are delicious! We recommend stopping by Pinocchio's in the afternoon, ordering some breadsticks and a cup of soup to dip them in. Then grab a seat by the window to watch the boats from it's a small world. It's an almost perfect way to spend a few minutes at the Magic Kingdom.

4. Corn Dog Nuggets: If you're visiting Casey's for the first time or the 500th time the Corn Dog Nuggets are a must-have menu item. Granted we did love them a little more when we could still get the liquid cheese on the side, but a side of mustard will do in a pinch.

3. Pretzels: While we love just about any soft pretzel, when you can get one shaped like Mickey Mouse you know it just tastes better than the rest! You'll find the Mickey Mouse Soft Pretzel at the Frontierland Churro Cart, Storybook Circus Pretzel Cart, and at the Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland.

2. French Fries: You'll find the Disney French Fries at most of the quick service spots at the Magic Kingdom and you can get them as a side with your meal or just as a quick snack. We always thought they were better with the liquid cheese from Casey's or Pecos Bill's, but they're also good plain (or with ketchup if that's your thing).

1. Popcorn: OK, we know we said this list wasn't in any particular order but no matter, popcorn is always our favorite savory snack at the Magic Kingdom. There's just something about noshing on a bucket of salty and hot popcorn while waiting for the Wishes fireworks to start. It's a must-do snack every time.

There are so many savory snacks to enjoy at the Magic Kingdom and we know we just scratched the surface. So tell us: what is your favorite savory snack when you're at the Magic Kingdom? Let us know in the comments!

Many thanks to the Disney Food Blog for use of their photos.
