Top 3 bathrooms at the Magic Kingdom

So Kristen, you're finally off your rocker, eh, writing about BATHROOMS? Well, I can promise I'm not going bonkers. Besides, our forum members have been discussing bathrooms, too.

To me, finding a clean, not-too-busy restroom at Disney World is great. You can be in and out in just a few minutes. If you have kids or need to change a diaper, then you know how important it is to have a calming, rather than chaotic, atmosphere for your child during potty time.

So without further ado, I present my top 3 bathrooms at the Magic Kingdom!

3. Main Street near Town Hall. This is one that people tend to miss because they're piling into the park. But it is BIG and ROOMY and CLEAN. If you've got kiddos, be sure to bring them in here before you make that walk down Main Street and the photo ops that come with it. Just don't hit this one at closing time!

2. Cinderella's Royal Table. This restroom certainly isn't huge, but it is unique and beautiful! The ladies restroom has just 2 sinks and 3 stalls, but it's almost an attraction in itself. Be sure to stop by after visiting with Cinderella!

1. Pirates of the Caribbean. It's nearly hidden, with 18 stalls and a handicapped stall (for the ladies) plus 8 sinks and a handicapped sink. Look for it to the left of the gift shop as you're exiting the ride. There's also a companion bathroom -- a godsend for families with little ones!
A few bathrooms to avoid:

1. Between Adventureland and Frontierland. It's in a breezeway between the two lands, so it's almost always busy -- even if it is newly renovated and pretty snazzy. Try the Pirates bathroom nearby instead.

2. Outside Cosmic Ray's. Another almost always busy bathroom in a prominent location.

3. Fantasyland near Peter Pan's Flight. Yet another very busy location. Busy almost always means not as clean, too.

Cassworld has put together photo slideshows of all the bathrooms at the Magic Kingdom. Check out the Magic Kingdom slideshow at the bottom of the page. The photos are from 2003 and 2005, but still give you a great idea of what to expect.

And be sure to check out Kristen Helmstetter's blog about Magic Kingdom bathrooms over at touringplans.com!

There should most certainly be a blog post like this about nearly everywhere! I'll be printing this one out when I head to the Magic Kingdom! Thank you!

I know it's not a restroom everyone has access to, but the on at Victoria and Albert's is to die for! I've only used it once and it was in 1995. Is it scary that I remember it?

The doors go all the way to the floor and there are (or at least were) both warm and cold washcloths for drying your hands - no paper towels here, though I would expect nothing less.

Of course there are fresh flowers and it's beautiful, although small; it is a pretty exclusive and small restaurant so there wasn't anyone in line. I wish I could remember if there was an attendant.

Both my husband and I talked about the bathrooms when we came out. Yep, they were that impressive!

I think this is a great report. My family and I are always looking for a clean and less busy restroom at WDW. I cannot agree more with respect to the hidden restroom near 'Pirates.' Let's try to keep that one a secret. Also, the restroom near Splash Mountain, in my experience is always empty. I have never waited in a line for the ladies' room here.

May I also suggest the restroom located outside of Cosmic Ray's (facing Fantasyland). It is located behind the kiosk for drinks, and if I am not mistaken, smoothies. It is smaller restroom but well hidden.

My favorite restrooms in MK are in Tomorrowland, between SM and the outdoor stage (I think it's where the Sky Buckets used to be). They have LOTS of stalls and usually not too crowded.

My favorite is medium sized one at Pinnocchio's Village Hus. It's small and somewhat out of the way and it's also quiant.

I think the best bathrooms were left out...the new Area by Rapunzels castle. Beautifully themed!

The new one close to the Be Our Guest restaurant is the best!! You should do a report on the accessibility of handicap restrooms. Some that are called handicap, really are not as my wheelchair cannot get in. When we try to stop at the family restrooms, they are full of teenagers who think that's their place to stop. Wish these could be monitored more closely.

Not at the MK, but clean and nice are the bathrooms at the Yacht and Beach Club lobbies AND the one in the lobby of the BC villas.

I cant believe the Rapunzel bathroom isn't on this list! It's just past "It's A Small World" between Frontierland and Fantasyland. It looks like her tower in "Tangled"!

There is a bathroom between Casey's hotdogs and crystal palace that is always clean, and not usually too busy. There is also a babycare station here. And for those not using the restroom a nice fountain to sit by while waiting for your party to return.

The only one on this list I can argue is Cinderella's Royal table bathroom. Having had the...experience... of waiting to get in it after dinner on our last trip, and going in with my daughter. It was perhaps the filthiest restroom in Disney I had been in to date. I honestly didn't believe I was in Disney anymore... though, maybe once cleaned it's a nice bathroom, but from my experience, it wasn't.

May not be the most pretty inside but I love the Rapunzel bathroom/rest area in fantasyland. It looks so much like the movie makes me want to braid hair and dance around. My daughter keeps asking if we can go in her Tower.

The best ones are the new Rapunzel ones in Fantasyland, next to Small World, across from Peter Pan, before you cross under the tressel near Haunted Mansion. Nice big stalls with heavy doors, great hand dryers, pretty murals.

The bathroom by Pirates is great, but the one in the breezeway is the best. I am handicapped and in a wheelchair. I find this bathroom to be the easiest to maneuver. Someone said it is always busiest, but I don't always find that to be true. At least when it is busy, there is room for me to wait comfortably while waiting on all the non handicapped folks to get out of the handicapped stall!!

Since the restaurant is only open during really busy times the bathroom inside tomorrowland terrace is almost always empty, plus it is big and clean.

Ditto the person who said Cinderella has a filthy bathroom- I was appalled that a princess would have such a dirty bathroom in her castle! It was terrible.

I think the top restrooms in MK now have to include Rapunzel's in the Tangled village area between Fantasyland and Liberty Square, plus the one in the New Fantasyland near Casey Jr. And maybe the pink/purple ones by the Cheshire Cafe (near the Mad Hatter tea cups) - rarely a queue because no-one knows about them!

I find that most of the bathrooms on the Disney property are clean, but the is one that has disappointed me several times, the one in Tusker House at Animal kingdom, it's usually messy and dirty.

My daugher and I have gone to WDW more than 10 times and this past trip about 2 weeks ago was our first time noticing the bathroom outside of POTC ride. It was so clean, bright and quiet!! We will remember it next time for sure! I have often used the breezeway bathroom in Adventureland and it's never been so busy that I'm waiting for an open stall. However, I have seen the one by Town Hall (or is it Guest Relations) become that busy - even during mid-morning and afternoon hours. We sometimes stop in there as we get ready to park-hop. I think the Pirate's bathroom is my new favorite cuz it IS so unnoticed. Also, this was the first time we notice the little "house" that contained tons of pirate paraphenalia perfect for picture-taking between the restrooms and the shop entrance. It almost looks like a closet. My other favorite bathrooms are all resort bathrooms - especially the ones with the washcloths available! (Beach Club, Contemporary and Grand Floridian to name a few) Can't wait for another trip to discover even MORE new things! (and well, we haven't started taking pictures of bathrooms yet but we just started taking pics of the trash cans - such detail Disney - wonderful details!!). :)

All bathroom custodians carry stickers that you can put over the electronic sensor so the toilet won't flush automatically. This gives young children time to cover their ears if they are sensitive to loud noises. Simply remove the sticker when you're ready to flush!

Thank Kristen, great article! Shelly, So glad to have your input regarding the ease of maneuverability for users who are physically handicapped. What a shame you had to ruin it with your snide, bitter remark. It has always been my understanding that a line is a line is a line. I wasn’t aware that being in a wheelchair gives you special privileges and allows you to move to the head of the line. It has always been my understanding that the handicapped stall is designed for ease of use for folks with a psychical handicap but anyone can use it. I’m pretty sure most of the general public isn’t standing in line looking backwards to see if you need to get through, but would be more than happy to step aside for you if you were in the front of the line.
I’m happy for you that you apparently don’t know about the pain and unpredictability of Crohn’s disease. Handicaps are NOT ALWAYS VISIBLE!!! How do you know that the person using the handicapped stall hasn’t been in line holding their breath hoping to get a stall before it’s too late!!! Try enjoying Disney without the chip on your shoulder!

I have to agree that the best restroom is the one at Victoria & Albert's! It is amazing, maybe small (just for one person) but like a previous reviewer stated, there is not a lot of traffic. There are fresh flowers and instead of paper towels to wipe your hands there are actually wash clothes! A very nice touch but something that you would expect from this restaurant. There is not an attendant for the restroom however when you return to your table you are escorted by one of your waitstaff who is attending your table and they have removed your old napkin and are there to place a new napkin on your lap. Classy all the way. We have been there 5+ times and the restaurant continues to amaze me not only with their food but the amazing service. :)

I absolutely love the bathrooms near Rapunzel's tower. They are gorgeous, and have always been clean when I've gone in them. Definitely a stop, even if it's just to see how pretty they are. Also, the bathrooms by Gaston's are good for a quick in and out. They were clean, although not very large. I'm thinking because they are in the back of the park, not as many know about them.

I love disney, but I was really disappointed that there was only 1 baby changing table in each bathroom. For a busy place visited by mostly families, there should be 2 or 3 per bathroom. I even visited a bathroom in Epcot that didn't have a baby changing table (just a week ago!) I had to wait in a line just to change a diaper.

Just thought I'd suggest that you update or research your old articles before reposting them. The restrooms you mentioned near Peter Pan are no longer available and have been replaced with beautiful and clean restrooms near Small World and Repunzel's tower.

The most awesome restroom is at EPCOT across from walk that goes up to building where Soarin' is located. There us a family restroom there that is private, never busy, and peaceful with a huge changing table. When I have had all I can stand I can disappear in there for a long time! It is on left as you cone out of the tunnel to go to Soarin' building. Awesome!!
