Mermaids Swim Into Pirates of the Caribbean Debut

Pirates of the Caribbean, that famous attraction within Walt Disney World, has seen its share of movie-inspired updates throughout more recent years, and that trend continues with the recent debut of the Mermaids of Whitecap Bay (from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides").

Disney's "Added Capacity" Program Aims to Shorten Wait Times

Walt Disney World attractions and wait times. You can't have one without the other, right? Turns out, Disney has been working to decrease those wait times with its "added capacity" program. So far, millions of dollars have been spent to adjust over twenty of the most popular attractions at WDW to enable more guests to experience those rides.

Guests "Stranded" on "Pirates" at WDW

News out of Orlando has it that some guests were caught on board Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" for at least an hour Sunday night. Some guests are reporting the ride stopped running sometime around 10:30 p.m. on September 4 resulting in an hour to two hour wait before exiting the ride was made possible.

Disney has said it attempted to automatically restart the ride; eventually, the ride was started manually. An apology to all riders affected by the delay was issued by Disney, and the company is working on settling any guest inconvenience on a case-by-case basis.

"Pirates" Nears $1 Billion Haul

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was the fourth installment of the popular series from Disney, and, if worldwide gross is any indicator, the series hasn't lost much steam. The film has been projected to crack the $1 billion mark and would be only one of seven films to claim this distinction.

Executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer had this to say about the continued success of the series:

Blackbeard Coming Soon to Pirates of the Caribbean Rides

Blackbeard, as portrayed by actor Ian McShane, will be making an appearance in the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean rides of both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Beginning May 20, you can catch Blackbeard in the grotto scene's ghostly waterfall. The upcoming appearance coincides with the also forthcoming release of "Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides."

Disneyland Prepares for Movie Premiere

Disneyland crews are busy preparing the park for the upcoming premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides." The highly anticipated, star-studded event is set to take place May 7.
