Christmas week with Ollie and Kim

Sorry that I haven't gotten anything posted since waiting in San Diego for our flight to Orlando. We had a LONG layover there and it was killing us. AND the San Diego airport is kinda awkward; we were virtually stuck in the section of the terminal we flew into with one coffee choice (not Starbucks, dang it), one bar choice (small and crowded), and one food stop that had some good choices but also smelled like burnt cheese. To go to the food court, you had to exit security. Sorry, but there was no way we were taking shoes off again, etc., etc. mad

BUT. . . Our flight from San Diego to Orlando was quick and uneventful. . and we arrived a whole HOUR early! A quick town car ride and we checked in to AKL at 6:00AM Christmas morning and got our room straight away! Savannah view!! We had shipped our luggage by FedEx to avoid possible holiday rush lost bags and they were there at bell services! So far so good; after a quick nap (west coast time adjustment, we called it), we headed to Boma for breakfast. So very good! Oh, but that is my opinion only; Kim wasn't impressed, but she is pretty particular about eggs and omelette ingredients. . . Really, I think it was the whole buffet thing, with food sitting out and everyone dishing from the same bowls and pans. She admits to some germophobe tendencies and added to some jet lag, she was on high alert.

Anyway, I thought Boma's breakfast was great! awesome

After animal watching from our balcony, We got cleaned up and headed out to DTD a bit later, to AMC theaters to catch a couple movies. MK was full, and we were just not in the mood to fight crowds so movies it was! We saw The Guilt Trip - Kim is a HUGE Streisand fan - and got tickets for a late showing of Les Miserables. Loved the first, but Les Miz . . . Was good in some parts but disappointing in others. Wanted to love it, but had to settle for just liking it. sarcastic

We had Christmas dinner at Wolfgang Puck Dining Room. Was quite good, but have to admit that we like the food at Express better. Our night ended late and we got back to resort at 2:00AM. Can you say TIRED? We already had planned a lazy day for Wednesday, so we slept in and after a light breakfast on our balcony with the animals muchlove we hopped a bus to DTD for shopping and lunch.

Shopping was fruitful!! But it always is at Disney, and lunch at Puck Express was great. It poured rain on those who were outside, but we were cozy with our lunch and some wonderful people sitting near us. We headed "home" for some relaxation before dinner at Jiko. Let me say that we LOVE Jiko! There were some new menu items and we were not disappointed! Will do a better report on the food later. Promise!

The weariness have caught up with us so will close this. Will post more tomorrow!!! Epcot, Tutto Italia, and the Candlelight Processional - Amy Grant narrating. yay

I am so glad to hear that you made it safely. I am not a buffet person myself so I totally understand Kim's aversion. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip and enjoy the candelight processional with Amy Grant (Love her!).

Yay, Ollie!!!!! You guys made it.

Sort of agree about Boma. I've had breakfast there twice and as long as I stayed with the traditional American foods the buffet was good. When I got adventurous and tried some African foods, I found the tastes did not agree with me. It's all Mitchener's fault (I was reading The Covenant at the time).

Keep the reports coming!

It is great to hear about the start of your trip. I don't think there is anywhere more lovely and magical than Disney at Christmas. Have a wonderful stay yay

Yay! Sounds like a great time so far! Sad to hear the poor review on Les Mis, though. I'm really looking foward to seeing it! It's one of my favorite books and my favorite musical!

Actually got a cheese and fruit plate on the plane. . . Wasn't bad! laugh We didn't have the Jiko cheese plate because we wanted to try a couple new appetizers. Was a tough choice, I have to say, but worth it. A spiced lamb flatbread and wild boar tenderloin. Both were SO good, especially the boar! We LOVE trying new things at Jiko!!!

And yes, we have some pictures and will post them with reports later. PROMISE!!! Really. . . biggrin

The bobotie!!! Yes, that's it. I really didn't like it.

According to the Weather Channel it's in the 60's and sunny in WDW. No so much here in NH. Here's the scene out of my dining room sliders.
