Disney trip gifts!

So my trip involves a red eye flight with 2 Disney first timers (1 who has never been on a plane before) an AP and myself. I wanted to do something special for everyone so this weekend I am going to go to the fabric store and pick up some Disney fabric that is on clearance (some are 60% off) and I am going to make everyone small pillows for on the plane and a blanket for myself. I am going to give them to each person when I pick them up for the airport.

Is there anything else you can suggest I give them that isn't very expensive and will beagle to clear security/customs? I am already bringing snacks for the plane and am driving them out to the airport. I'd like it to be either Disney or travel themed.

What a lovely idea! You could make little bags to carry the pillows and snacks in. Perhaps some gum to help with ear popping. A travel magazine to read on the plane might be nice, or a WDW Guide. Maybe you could type up the plans that you've made so they can have a preview of your trip to browse and discuss.

I bought bottled water holders at the dollar store. They are the padded "neoprene" sort of material, with a clip that hooks onto your belt, purse, etc. I saw a lot of the cast members with official Disney ones, but ours were fun colours and prints, and inexpensive. We used them every day - no condensation on your clothes, etc., and they kept things cooler for a while longer.

Excellent ideas. I think I will do a whole plane survival kit in a quick sew bag from the same fabric as the pillow. Tell me if I am missing anything:

Pillow
Gum
Magazine/book
Snack
WDW park maps(I'll try to get someone to mail them to me when they go down)
Itinerary
Park ticket
Disney Trinket from disney store

Anything else adults might like?

My mouth is hanging open because I'm so impressed with all you're doing...including sewing!...for your friends to make this such a magical trip for everybody, donthrowsand! Can I travel with you next time??

The only thing I would maybe add is a pack of motion-sickness pills, or a motion-sickness bracelet, for your friend who's never flown before, just in case she discovers mid-flight that she's not a fan of the friendly skies??

That's a great suggestion. Gravol, dramamine, etc. make you sleepy though, so I would suggest also having some of the gravol ginger gummies or small capsules. The gummies are great - no water needed, and they've worked pretty well for me. I ALWAYS get car/plane/sea sick! laugh

What an awesome friend you are! My friend Robin did something similar for us last year when we all went on a weekend cruise for her milestone bday. She included hats in our goodie bags as well.

I get motion sick sometimes too and like the ginger pills better than anything. Great tip!

I have Benadryl (the sleeping, allergy, ill fixer) but I will do some ginger as well.

Sure. I have a rule with my mom, if she pays, I will go where ever she wants. laugh

But seriously, I love making things. I am not a fan of patterns so I usually just make things up. I just finished a travel wallet/organizer for my boarding pass, passport and house key. Unfortunately my maps won't be making it to me so I will skip them.

What a sweet idea! The only other thing I could suggest to take their minds off of the flight is the "Hidden Mickeys" book (small). For friends who were traveling with kids for their first Disney vacation, I got the kids the book "Disney World for Kids by Kids". It's a fun way for them to read (or have read to them) the description of the rides by kids who have experienced the rides.

What about a Mickey t-shirt? I made some for our trip last year at Christmas. They were super easy (no sewing for me). I just used Ultra Heat & Bond. I'm sure yours could look way more professional since you sew! wink I just used holiday fabric (because we were going on Christmas) and cut it out in the shape of a Mickey head and ironed it on a plain t-shirt. It made dressing for Disney easy. We wore them on different days so we wouldn't look to 'Goofy!' mickey

Those t-shirts are just too cute! How creative... I would wear them for sure but I doubt seriously I could get my 22 yr old in one of them or my husband. Thank you for the ideas!

i was going to suggest some starbucks VIA as well. you can buy plain, flavored or iced. They can go right in the bag and be added to hot or cold water. Especially you are taking a red eye, I'm assuming you will all need some coffee when you get off the plane.

They are my life saver when I travel.
