Free In Park WiFi?

has anyone heard the rumor that Epcot may be offering in Park WiFi this summer? Someone had mentioned it to me on Friday, but I really haven't been able to find that much information about it.

Have you heard anything? Do you think it's a possibility? Would you like free WiFi in the parks?

I haven't heard, but I think this is something they desperately need. I know in MK and AK... I have ATT and its a bit hard to get reception. At least with the WiFi, I could still iMessage my parents and get them a text easier.

I would love free WiFi in the parks, even if it's just in specified places. I have a "pay as you go" plan for my smartphone, and my carrier (in Canada) will not allow international calls unless I upgrade to a full data plan. I don't NEED a data plan, since almost everywhere I go here, there is WiFi (at least in the major cities), and I can e-mail and text with that.

It would be great to be able to check in with family and friends from the parks, and send the odd picture or two. awesome

Using WiFi would mean that apps that are interactive maps, ride times etc. would be a lot more practicle to actually use in the parks. Especially for visitors coming from over seas(like me) who's data plan then becomes either hideously expensive or used up within a couple of sessions.

The more I think about this, the more I'm sure we'd buy another iPad if we could use it with internet connection there.

Oh yeah. I carry my iPad with me (More for entertainment for the kids, or something to look up at lunch or dinner), and usually take my MiFi with me so I have internet. It would make things nice. I don't want them to give speeds so that people can watch stuff on netflix... but enough to browse the web, and see what lines are like would be great!

Yea, I was just about to say "I think that the free wifi has something to do with the new Highland Games thing!" laugh

...but after Thursday I wont really have to worry about this anymore as CM's get free wifi in the parks.

FoxNews.com is reporting that WIFI came to the MK yesterday.

Here's a link to the story.

I heard about MK. That is pretty nice because then I can iMessage in the park!

As for the nextgen fast pass - If it is really coming on the 14th, I wonder what the effects will be on our trip

Wohoo I'm super excited about this! DH and I got rid of our AT&T and data plan at the end of last year and now just have a regular old cell phones, but we still have our old iPhones, we just can't connect to anything without Wifi! I was really disappointed we won't be able to use any of the Disney apps in the park!

Thats what I love! There are certain spots in our condo where we have no reception (Bathroom... he he he) and I always know I can iMessage people instead of text. Sounds dumb... but its nice. So I'm gonna like using iMessage in the park if this is true, because sometimes a text can take a bit of time to send.

It is also a lot cheaper for traveling for me which is nice! I also like read reciepts. Then I know people at least got my text rather than not being sure.
