Logistical questions regarding a resort change mid trip

I've never changed resorts mid trip before, but it's going to happen this September. We are staying at AKV Kidani Village for four nights, then checking out and checking into SSR for one night (gotta use up those remaining few developer points). mickey

The plan was to check out early out of AKV, and then take a cab to SSR, since we'll have luggage with us. Joy says though, that she believes Disney will move our luggage for us. crossfingers

Then I wonder about DME? How will that work since we'll be using them to go to AKV for check in, but to come out of SSR for check out?

Anyone have any experience with this?

No experience with the DME thing directly (though there are so many split stays out there that I'm sure it won't be a problme), but I CAN tell you that Disney will move your luggage for you. That much I've ascertained with my research for the upcoming CBR/Poly trip.

Apparently, you call bell services on your check out day, they come and pick up your bags, you tell them where you're checking in that day, and they'll transfer them no problem. Once you get settled in your room at SSR, just call bell services and request that your bags be brought up.

Yes--they'll absolutely move your things for you. It worked very smoothly when we were moving from POP over to the Beach Club. It may take them some time to get your luggage over there, but it should make it by normal check-in time (3:00pm).

Not sure about DME, but like SpaceAce said, there shouldn't be any problem--they deal with that stuff all the time. You can also call to confirm the day before you leave to make sure you're scheduled for the correct pick up location. Smile

Thanks SpaceAce and Bali. The info was very helpful. So, like Joy said, we can just worry about getting ourselves over to SSR and not our luggage.

Only thing is, I hope the luggage doesn't arrive too late, cause we're going to have to get into it to get ready for MNSSHP that night! mickey

I've had Disney transport my luggage once for a split stay & it did go smoothly. We had to wait awhile & we really wanted to use the pool, but didn't have our suits.
The next split stay, we transferred our luggage ourselves in a cab tho, since we knew we would want stuff sooner rather than later.
Murphy's Law, the one time you need something out of your luggage, it's the time you don't have access to it laugh

I've never used ME, but I'm sure SpaceAce & Bali are right.

That's a good point. If you know you'll need something before that 3:00pm/4:00pm time, bring it along with you and have Bell Services hold it when you check in at SSR.

Either that or make a small bag with stuff you don't want in storage forever. My laptop is pivotal for my work so I sometimes don't leave it will them. You could also grab stuff you might need. I bet you'll be safe for MNSSHP though.

Hi,

I did a resort swap mid-trip when on December 11, 2007 I checked out of ASMo and checked into AKL. Because I pack light--a suitcase and a backpack--the night before, I packed all that I could fit into the suitcase and the rest into the backpack. The next morning I put on the clothes I'd laid out and the backpack, trundled the suitcase behind me, hopped on a bus to AK, hopped another bus to AKL, and checked in at AKL. It was pretty easy.

Do you just do laundry on long trips?
