Saturday 27th September

We had a little lie in and left to head to Animal Kingdom as we were walking to the bus stop one pulled up so we ran to catch it!! the bus was pretty quiet and we seemed to get there quicker than usual!

We arrived by about 9.40 and made our way straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris I was really excited as we have never been in the park this early and thought we would see loads of animals - this didn't happen but the giraffes were being pretty up close and personal!!! here's a few from our trek!

we came out and did pangani exploration trail which was really short and we had to come back out the way we came in which was strange but got some excellent pictures of the gorillas and meerkats!

(I seem to have lost my meerkat photos if I find them I will add them!)
we headed to asia and did maharajah jungle trek and again animals weren't very lively I don't even have any pictures!!! after we came out we headed to expedition everest for our FP I LOVE this ride in fact its my fav ride in disney I think and in my bid to get my mam to pose on rides we went for thumbs up!

we decided the sky looked a bit dodgy and our stomachs were rumbling to head to Yak & Yeti and see if they would let us in early the front looked really busy but we got seated straight away! i loved the feel of this place our seat could have been a little better as we were right next to the kitchen door but I didn't mind too much I had BBQ glazed ribs and mam had steak and shrimp which we both said were amazing and we would have it again

there are so many things on their menu that I want to try!
now onto the desserts we had fried wontons and mango pie now if I remember right we both thought the wontons were too sickly for our taste but I'm so pleased we tried them! and the mango pie we were split mam really liked it I wasn't a massive fan but I can see the appeal with it

we would definatley go back but maybe pay OOP because we wanted to try other entrees that would be more value for money OOP than on DDP and I loved the place!!!! whilst we were sitting the rain had arrived (oh yay more rain!) but stopped before we left yay we headed over for our FP for Festival of the Lion King which I was pleased we did, I was a little anxious before we went in because we hadn't been since the move and didn't know which was the lion section (we are always in the lion section and I know all my words for the lion section!) luckily we were and I sang my little heart out (much to the delight of people sitting around me!) I enjoy this show soooooooooooooo much because its one of my favourite films anyway and holds so many memories for me - always tear up and "can you feel the love tonight" after this anything we had left we wouldnt have time to do so we headed out as we would be back! (for the record I have no memory of this break but I do know we had one as in my pictures I've changed clothes!!!) and we headed out to HS for frozen fireworks which I was SUPER excited for! we got this taken as we entered the park

we stopped at the tune-in lounge for some adult beverages and we waited aaaaaaaaaaaages I have never seen it so busy! we got 2 electric lemonades and went to find a spot for the fireworks! we found one which turned out to be pretty perfect and the dance party was on - well that was me set until the fireworks started I sang, I danced, I drank it was perfect (I think my mam enjoyed it someone should really ask her haha!) I really wish they would have kept the dance party on I had a great time!!! eventually the fireworks started and OMG blown away the show wasnt the best (what I could see) but to me the fireworks were just stunning! I didn't take any pictures because I was in awe! we joined the crowds and headed out once they finished and surprisingly we caught a lucky break and were back at the resort heading over for food within and hour of the fireworks finishing!!!! we got make your own pasta (can someone send me some over?!) and on watchmakers recomendation got a magic cookie bar and a red velvet cake for mam
watchmaker what kind of beauty have you introduced to me?! and luckily mam preferred her red velvet cake yay yay yay happiest news of the night I had this wonder all to myself!!!! it did take me a few nights to eat it but wow!

we had to have plenty sleep this night because tommorow was...................................................HANSON DAY the most highly anticipated day of the trip!!!!!!!

Sunday 28th September

We decided to take it easy today and I actually had a bounty platter for breakfast (mam isn't a big eater in the mornings) and we left around 10am to go to EPCOT once we arrived we headed straight for Soarin and requested front row we actuially managed to get front and centre in concourse 2! wow it was breathtaking I mean I love the ride anyway but never experienced it minus the feet above me and although the picture quality is decreasing its still a fantastic ride!!!!
we had lunch super early as we had a 3pm ADR at Beaches and cream and needed room for that! we both had pork chop with cheddar mash (can someone send me one of those aswell with my pasta?!) and for dessert we shared key lime pie and strawberry shortcake YUMMY!!!!!

we were sooooooooooooooooo full after this we took it easy and rode living with the land (I love this so much!!!!) and circle of life (not going to lie here I almost drifted off because I was so full!)
we then headed into World Showcase as out next FP was Maelstrom and seen as my rides were limited I was not missing this Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( Sad( I was so pleased I had changed my FP to this as it was not originally available for our trip but once the official closing date was announced they became available the wait was up to 55mins!!! I love me some Maelstrom and if I had no FP I would have been waiting but I would be riding once only today!
(bit blurry but asked mam to do a sad face - she didn't get the message in time!)

I took a few more but as people know the pictures don't come out great sad we still had 2 more rides this trip but it still didn't feel like enough
also had my obligitary troll photo (the 1 stable man in my life since 1996!)

we had intended to snack around the world but we were still so full from lunch I couldn't fit any in!!! however I did manage to try a grapefruit beer that was on my list and gorgeous! 1 thing down 60 odd more to go waiting haha we decided to just make our way over to beach club for our reservation as my smell and taste buds wanted food but the stomach was at full capacity!!!

we had the most gorgeous walk over (I WILL stay at the beach club someday!) and got seated in B&C mam just got water and I had pink lemonade (yummy!) we also decided to split a milkyway sundae.

now as we were sitting waiting for our sundae all the lights went off and these orange/yellow lights started flashing (I honestly thought we were being evacuated!) but no I had forgot I still had my Birthday badge on and the whole place started singing happy birthday to me I was mortified!!!!!!! more so at the fact that my birthday was over a month ago!!!! I also got a balloon which I got really attached to (until it flew away mad )

on our way back I admired the gorgeous view over to the boardwalk its just amazing!!!! this was around the time the balloon decided to fly away!)
once we got back to EPCOT we headed around to the America Pavilion as I wanted to be in the first hanson show - WOW what a line we were greeted with!!! we didn't think we would get in but actually got great seats we were the row behind the dinner package so we thought we did well! Hanson were amazing but was a little disappointed they didn't sing some of my favourite songs (the hits they had in the states were obviously different to the UK) but they did sing mmmmmm bop which I was so happy with (I have the video somewhere ill try and post!)

during the show a lady near the front collapsed and they had to get a stretcher to get her out I hope she was okay?

we were planing on staying for the other performances but EPCOT was crazy busy (Sunday I know I should have known!) so we decided to get the boat to HS for the last night of Frozen fireworks which I'm so pleased we did as I got pictures!!! we enjoyed the dance party but sore feet took us away from our prime viewing location but we got a pretty good view right near the exit! heres a few of my favs!

once they finished we headed out and over for food pasta obviously and red velvet cake and a cupcake!
we fell asleep pretty quick and we needed a good nights sleep because..................................brace yourselves people.......................................................... the next day Amy would be driving a car on the wrong side of the road, wrong side of the car and driving a car twice the size of her own for the very.first.time eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek

We live about a 1000 miles from WDW and usually drive. Occasionally we fly out of Detroit. The 17 hour drive time goes pretty quickly but do we stay one night in route. The worst part of the trip is driving through Atlanta where there are six lanes and it is busy no matter what time of day. Usually drive through on the weekend. Avoid rush hour at all costs!! eek Crazy

Looking forward to reading about your driving experience!!

I love Beaches & Cream's birthday bit! Even though the fanfare is momentarily embarrassing, I think of all of the places that we've done a birthday or anniversary meal, the folks at B&C made me feel the most special. The birthday balloon is an awesome touch!

Looking forward to your driving adventures!

I was mortified however it was the only place that mentioned my birthday other than CM wishing me happy birthday of course (I wasn't bothered as like I say my bIrthday was a month before the trip and I did take it off some places) but it was the initial "OMG we are being evacuated" that threw me laugh I got really attached to my balloon before it disappeared!!!!

ok people I won't keep you in suspense much any longer!!!!
Monday 29th September -part 1
(inhales deeply) okay lets get started!!!!
we got up around 8am as we needed to be out the front by 8.45 so we literally picked up the stuff we needed to get the car and off we went the little blue alamo bus came and picked us up and within no time we were at the car care centre we got to the front and explained this was my first time driving and mam hadn't driven over there since 1998 so could she go through everything with us!!! she was lovely and explained the trusty GPS (we named her betsy) and off we went to find the car we were given a ford edge yay

it was so pretty!!! we got in the car (it was HUGE!!!!) and set betsy up and as I was familiarising myself with car I noticed on the shift stick I had an "S" now if ANYBODY can tell me what this is for I will be eternally grateful as nobody seems to know!!! I went back to speak to one of the alamo men he came and he didn't know and said "if you don't know what it is - don't use it!!" so we got set up and headed back to the resort we set the GPS what could possibly go wrong?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! well as we were driving along the road we came to a fork in the road left lane - downtown Disney, right lane - EPCOT so I says "well I must have to be in the left lane our resort id a downtown Disney hotel not EPCOT mam's response "Amy the GPS tells you go right and I think you should go right Amy" I was thinking I'm sure its left but clearly I was outnumbered so right we went and around the corner "oh hello EPCOT nice to see you!" we were heading for the entrance turnstiles (so just for the record here I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!) we came up to a lovely girl and we explained the GPS sent us this way just take second left she said now we both obviously missed a turning and ended up in cast member parking!!!!!! oops it was at this point betsy decided to catch up and got up home safely!!! at the time I was pretty scared but now looking back on it I take a giggling fit (I think my waiting area thinks I've gone nuts as I apear to be giggling at a computer!!!)

moving swiftly on we headed to the premium outlets to get stocked up on all our best deals!!!! and got a subway while we were there (I tell you British subway aint got nothing on US subway!!!) and just as we got back to the resort and under shelter the rain started - oh joy!!!! I decided to brave the rain to go get drinks poncholess!!! well I may as well have took my shampoo with me would have saved me some time!!! when I got to riverside mill I happened to spot Holly (Alicemouse) and hubby getting make your own pasta we stood and chatted for a few minutes but I had to run we had a special ADR at Cinderella's royal table and had to look my best for the princesses!!!

to be continued........

Well Done for driving awesome would you do it again?

What was your best deal? Any fave item from the shop fest?

You are also very lucky that you can drive with your Mum in the car, she comes in my car maybe 4 times a year as that is all I can tolerate! However if shes driving it's mostly fine.

Sounds like another good day with another good post to follow....... Gotta love a bit of real Princess action mickey

It just changes the ecu mapping wink

Or in laymans terms it just makes the car more responsive when you accelerate

Excellent trip report. And congrats on being brave enough to drive on the wrong side of the road and car. I don't know how I'll handle it if I ever get myself over to your side of the pond.

Monday 29th September - Part 2
we left to go to MK and guess what? it was raining surprise surprise!!! it wasn't too bad so we just went for it we were taking the bus as I was still a little unsure in the car and wanted a bit more driving experience before taking it to the parks we had the ponchos in a bag ready to go if needed! as we were stood at the bus stop the rain got heavier, and heavier, and heavier and by the time we arrived at MK it was reeeeeeeeeally heavy! so out the ponchos came and we just made a bee line for the castle there was this girl at the bottom of the ramp checking reservations so you couldn't just take shelter I felt so sorry for her we got there about 30mins early and didn't get in until our ADR time but I didn't care! we stood in line for our picture with Cinderella who was actually my fav meet ad greet of the trip she was so down to earth and normal and we had a laugh about towns in England (was something to do with how you pronounce Essex but I'm not sure!) it was just a great meet

we got seated (and given our wishing star and wands!!! yay ) and we ordered for starters crawfish and shrimp grits and mam got pork belly confit mam loved hers I didn't like the grits which was basically the starter but I ate the shrimp!

for mains I had pork chop (which was the best pork chop I have ever had!) and mam had steak and shrimp (beautiful but small)

for desserts I had clock strikes twelve and mam had chefs dessert sampler (flourless brownie, pistachio mousse and some kind of strawberry mousse) I really enjoyed mine but mam said hers all tasted the same to her and didn't really have much flavour anyway

now the princesses........................... (insert sigh here) now first there was snow white, I'm quite sure she is a lovely girl and all that but in our opinion I looked more like snow white than she did!

then Aurora she did look the part but she was painfully thin - I mean we were worried for her health and she didnt look well either

Ariel was next now she was lovely and sounded the part and was very chatty but personally I don't think she looked anything like Ariel

and finally Jasmine she looked the part she was fantastic but she didn't have the persona she wasn't "in character" a lot

I would love everybody else's opinion on our princesses but personally I think we got a bit of a crappy bunch?

On whole I'm so pleased we did Cinderella's Royal Table because I had always wanted to experience it and probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been for DDP but the food wasn't amazing and I wasn't impressed with the princesses and would have been really disappointed if I had paid for it
ending on a high one of the best things that came from dining in CRT was we were in the castle when wishes went off and it was an amazing experience that I wont forget but I don't think we will be going back anytime soon

shame about your princesses - Looks like I had a fairly good bunch compared toyour motley crew. And YES you do look like a better snow white - go demand a job there right now hahahaha

I agree, it is amazing place to go at least once but I would only ever do it if on the DDP (I saw the price for 1 meal eek )

My best tip - eat REALLY slow and watch Wishes from inside ( I had an 8.10pm reservation)
