Spirit of Aloha vs. Hoop-dee-doo

Spirit of Aloha vs. Hoop-dee-doo

So originally I was thinking that one of our Universal days we would got to Emeril's out on the City Walk for dinner, but now I'm rethinking since the park closes at 7pm that it might be more fun to go back to the resorts and do something Disney. But now the toss up is between doing the Spirit of Aloha dinner show or the Hoop-dee-doo Revue? I've done the Hoop-dee-doo Revue once when I was 6 or so, but I don't remember a thing about it except from pictures of me being chosen to go up on stage, and DH has never been. Neither of us have ever been to the Spirit of Aloha. So my question is, which one do you recommend more? Fight amongst yourselves Smile

We have been to both. We have been to the Hoop-dee-do once and the Spirit of Aloha many times. I like both the food and the show better at the Spirit of Aloha. However....it is outside whereas the Hoop-dee-do is inside. If you are going during the hot hot hot summer months I would suggest doing the Hoop-dee-do.

Opps, I see you will be going in October. The weather should not be an issue then.

My vote is for Hoop Dee Doo. Such a fun time, great food, all-you-can-drink beer and sangria, strawberry shortcake... then take a carriage ride around Fort Wilderness! clapping

Although it will be our first time seeing either, based on recommendations my husband and I are going with Spirit of Aloha.

I just have to go with HoopDeeDoo review, it is such a blast.

Good point! Have you ever been? If you have, you may be disappointed by Disney's. We were. If not, then it's still good fun! We had fun when we went about 6 years ago. (I still vote for Hoop Dee Doo though!) When else can you play a washboard!

I went when I was young to an authentic luau (not a tourist ticketed one) that was fun then we went to all the shows for tourists. Also slightly disappointing after the real thing

Hoop! Haven't been to the other, but I loved Hoop as a kid. So my vote is for Hoop!

Hoop de do- hands down no contest. We have been to both over the years, but we keep going back to the Hoop de do. No doubt we have seen it at least 15 times over the years. Just as corny as ever, but a real blast. We usually do it our last night, kinda of a parting gift to ourselves.
