Can we leave the car at contemporary and monorail to mk?

stars Hi there Doyouwanna! Welcome to the forums! stars

My first thought when talking about small kids to the Signature restaurants (Brown Derby & Le Cellier) is always are they used to eating at upscale restaurants? If the answer is yes, then I think the ADRs look great! My older two kids could have handled those restaurants just fine at those ages, my youngest, no way. At 4 she was always crawling under the table or trying to entertain other people, I think even she would have been fine by 7.

I'm jealous of your BOG ADR, I haven't been able to change mine to fit the larger party I have now.

As for the car, are you staying at the Contemporary? If so, then my answer is yes.

i think they look, i was not impressed with the breakfast at hollywood and vine for the $ but it was not bad and the kids liked the music. as far as parking and taking the monorail from the contemp., we have in the past, but it is about the same distance to walk to the mk as it would be to get to the monorail depending on the spot you get

Thanks for the feedback. The kids are pretty good in restaurants. We lie in manhattan so they have experience. I do have another ADR at teppan Edo on arrival night just in case le cellier seems not doable. I think here will be enough stimuli at bog to keep the 4 year old happy and there is always the iPad!

We are not staying at the contemporary. I was thinking gettin back into the car, driving to park at mk then catching the monorail would suck a lot of time. Do they check cars? I can also get diamond parking passes. Will that help?

One more question: besides the aaa discount. Is there. Way to get discounted park passes. I'm not going to a time share tour....

My 4 year old loves jack. That's why we decided on Hollywood and vine. We had a choice of 3 fantasmic packages. Since we're going to H&v for breakfast I picked brown derby. The Italian place had poor reviews. I'm hoping since our dinner is 5:30 it will be packed with other kids. Right??

I believe the Contemporary has a gate with a guard at the parking entrance. I've only driven once and we had valet. I know that as a DVC Member I'm asked not to drive and park my car at the Contemporary when going to Top of the World because of limited space at the hotel. Plus, the monorail ride from the Contemporary to the MK is actually longer than the ride from the Ticket and Transportation Center to the MK. I don't think it would save you any time unless you walked.

Be careful when searching out discounted park tickets, there are quite a few scams out there. I would stick with the AAA discount. There really isn't such a thing as a hugely discounted park ticket.

We have never seen the Brown Derby packed with kids. In all honesty it really will be pretty boring to most children. The food is great but I do not consider it very kid friendly. There will be some children there though.

Sounds great to me! Sci-Fi is one our favorite restaurants! Your kids will really enjoy it.

The only one I would be "iffy" about is the Brown Derby. I have heard mixed reviews.

Should I switch our fantasmic dinner ADR to mama melrose? I read very mixed reviews

Should we park at the mk lot and ride the monorail to chef mickeys and then monorail back to mk? If we drive to chef mickeys and then get back in the car won't our mk parking be far away?

If you have a dining reservation at Chef Mickeys you can drive and park your car at the Contemporary. I don't believe there is a time limit on how long you can park it there, so I think you could do the Monorail from there, or walk over to the MK as its only a short walk!

Thank you kris. Mama melrose is now booked except for 3:30. Guess I goofed. Oh well ill keep checking but its our final night and I thought the kids would like fantasmic. I can always take the 4 year old for a walk if she's noisy. Would anyone recommend mama melrose. Think ADRs for fantasmic will open?

I don't know how accurate this information is or how strongly it is enforced, but.... I have read (on the Disney Mom's Panel) that if you are dining at a resort that you are not staying at you get a parking pass for three hours.

Additional comments:

As I said, I don't know how strictly this is enforced. Looking at your plans again, since you are spending the day at MK, you should consider parking at the TTC, taking the monorail to the Comtemporary and the either walking or taking the monorail to MK after breakfast.

We have parked at the Contemporary when we had an ADR there and afterwards gone into the park, but we usually valet also , not sure how much of a difference that makes. We also stay on property so we have the pass in our window showing that. They do check ID at the resort gate. Regarding the MK parking being far away, no its not far at all, 5 minutes max from the Contemporary. I would just park at the TTC and ride the monorail, just don't get on the express, it will not stop at the Contemporary.

We've done something similar at the Boardwalk, but I always valet when I have a car.

I think we will likely valet the car. Think it will be an issue to get the car out of valet at the end of the night? Is it fast? It is expensive?

There shouldn't be an issue at the end of the night, they're pretty fast, it's $15.
