New Updates Coming for This Year's Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights

For many guests, it's a holiday must-do tradition, and this year, there are a few changes to help enhance the experience. We're talking of Disney Hollywood Studio's Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Since starting way back in 1995, the show has continued to evolve; today, it boasts more than 5 million lights (all energy-efficient LED) and continues to pull in enhancements such as images and music from Disney's "Prep and Landing."

New Year's Eve Events Around Walt Disney World Announced

It's never too early to figure out what you're doing New Year's Eve - especially when Walt Disney World is involved. Disney recently announced events for bringing in 2013, and we've got the scoop on what's going on where for December 31.

New Seating Coming Soon For "Fantasmic" Show

"Fantasmic," one of the most popular attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios, is slated to have more seating available in the near future. Disney is planning to install more benches at the show's amphitheater by the end of this month.

The plan to install the new seating stems from interviews by Disney with DHS guests. Says Dan Cockerell, vice president of DHS:

Don Your Best Duds for Dapper Day

Ever get the feeling you want to keep the shorts and flip flops in the hotel room and dress up to head out to the park? You're in luck. Dapper Day is coming up soon - a day for guests to don some dressier clothes to take in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

According to organizer Justin Jorgensen, the idea for Dapper Day came from spotting some old Imagineer drawings in which guests going to Epcot were dressed to the nines. His thought? "Wouldn't it be really great if just for once we could make these illustrations come to life?"

Independence Day Offerings at Walt Disney World

It wouldn't be Independence Day without fireworks, and Disney's certainly got those covered this year. For those of you lucky enough to be in and around Walt Disney World on the 4th of July, here's a look at what Mickey and company are planning to help celebrate.

Magic Kingdom will be showing its "Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" twice: July 3 and 4. This patriotic take on fireworks will light the up the night both dates at 9 p.m.

Disney's Hollywood Studios Sign Involved In Small Fire

Disney's Hollywood Studios was the scene of a small electrical fire over the weekend that caused damage to one of its popular signs.

On Saturday night, the sign at the Magic of Disney Animation building caught fire when a ballast shorted out sometime around 9:20 PM. The area in and around the building was evacuated and no guests or cast members were injured during the small fire.

At this time, the show inside of the building is still up and running. It's lights out, however, for the sign until it's completely repaired.

Teen Tinker Bell Made to Change Clothes Before Entering Animal Kingdom

A teenager was recently denied entrance to Disney's Animal Kingdom. The reason? She was dressed like Tinker Bell.

Fantasyland Expansion Model Comes To DHS

In case you missed it during its last showing at the 2011 D23 Expo, the new Fantasyland expansion model is now on display at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The model, which outlines the vision of the larger, improved Fantasyland, is now able to be viewed by guests at the One Man's Dream exhibit inside DHS. One Man's Dream gives guests insight into Walt Disney's dreams and how his visions came to life.

Right now, there's no set time frame on how long the model will be on display at One Man's Dream.

New Droid Building Kits Coming To DHS

Ever wanted to have a droid a la Luke Skywalker in Star Wars? Well, you're in luck because the Droid Factory is coming soon to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Work started on this concept back in 2009, and when the Droid Factory debuts during Star Wars Weekends at DHS, there will be some 71 different pieces guests can choose from to build and name their own 3 3/4 inch droid. Guests choose a dome and body from many different colors and can add in other options like hats.

Great Movie Ride Dinner Coming In June

What's better than being able to go behind the scenes in the Disney Hollywood Studio's attraction the Great Movie Ride? Being able to pair an in-depth look at the ride with a dinner. Slated as the June event for "Tables in Wonderland," the Great Movie Ride Dinner is planned for Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 from 8:00 - 10:30 PM.

Guests partaking in this special event will be able to access the Great Movie Ride after it has closed for the day and have a delicious three-part meal. Details on the meal are as follows:

Star Wars Weekends Returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios May 17-June 9

For four weekends each spring, Star Wars fans (and fanatics) converge on Disney's Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekends. This year, the intergalactic celebration starts May 17 and continues until June 9.

While the guest list is still a work in progress we can report that Ray Park who starred as the Sith warrior Darth Maul is scheduled to appear during Weekend I and Weekend II, and Warwick Davis who portrayed Ewok Wicket W. Warwick is scheduled for Weekend III and Weekend IV.
