The Festival of The Lion King at Disney's Animal Kingdom has been visited by one million guests since it reopened earlier this summer.

The popular live show reopened in June in the new Harambe Theater after being closed for several months.

The show originally opened in 1998 in Camp Minnie Mickey but that location was closed this year as part of the ongoing construction for the new Avatar area of the park.

New Bird Show Debuting at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this Summer

More changes are headed to Disney's Animal Kingdom this summer as a new live bird show is set to debut.

The show is called Winged Encounters-The Kingdom Takes Flight and it will feature six types of birds including macaws.

'Winged Encounters' will showcase macaws in flight and will also feature bird experts who will share conservation stories with the audience. The show is scheduled to be performed on Discovery Island.

After hibernating for the last few months, the 'Festival of the Lion King' is set to return to Disney's Animal Kingdom this summer.

The show went on hiatus in January of this year as construction for the park's Avatar-inspired land started.

The 'Festival of the Lion King' is scheduled to return to Disney's Animal Kingdom in June, but no official date has been announced.

The live show features songs from the hit movie in addition to dancers, acrobats, floats, and a fire twirler.

Summer at Walt Disney World Resort Includes the Rock Your Disney Side Celebration and Car Masters Weekend

Summer officially kicks off at the Walt Disney World Resort on May 23 with the 24-hour 'Rock Your Disney Side' celebration.

The party begins at 6 a.m. on May 23 and runs until 6 a.m. on May 24. The celebration will feature a variety of good-vs.-evil stories with character meet-and-greets, special merchandise, and special food and beverage items.

The 24-hour celebration is also planned for Disney California Adventure Park.

Festival of the Lion King - the popular live show featuring songs from The Lion King - is moving to a new home at Disney Animal Kingdom sometime next year.

Disney recently announced that a new structure is under construction and should be ready to host the show sometime in 2014. The new theater will be located in the Harambe Village section in the Africa area of the Animal Kingdom, which seems fitting considering The Lion King takes place in Africa.
