Are You Happy With Your Home Resort?

I love Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is my home resort at WDW, but I have found that sometimes I get bored staying at the same place, or that I want to take advantage of an 11 month booking at other DVC Resorts. Sometimes, I wish I could transfer my AKL membership to a different resort. It seems to me like it's getting harder and harder for me to switch resorts and 7 months out. Has this ever crossed you mind? What have you done about it? Have you ever gotten "sick" of your home resort?

Maybe when I win the lottery tonight I'll just buy more points... or move to Golden Oaks.

We own at Boardwalk but haven't stayed there yet. But I can't imagine I will be disappointed. Or bored. I'll stay anywhere as long as it's on property.

Yep, I completely know where you're coming from! Try booking a whole week at 7 months laugh let alone 2! I like trying them all out. Slowly working our way round them all Wink

We're still pretty new members (2014) so we haven't had a chance to get bored yet biggrin We own at Bay Lake but we've also stayed a week at Boardwalk, a week at Beachclub and one night ( not long enough!) at Animal Kingdom. I liked all of them but I like our home resort the best because Magic Kingdom is my favourite park and we spend most of our time there. Can't beat being able to walk there awesome

We are also newbies (2015) at AKL and LOVE it. We have yet to "check in" so we go right to our room. What I like best, NO PEOPLE!! I get enough in the parks. At Kidani, it's like you are in your own little world! We saw maybe a total of 15 other guests in the halls and lobby while we were there Thanksgiving. It's nice after the crazy crowds in the parks! We went to Jambo for breakfast at The Mara and were overwhelmed immediately after the quietness of Kidani.

I've also stayed at Saratoga Springs and enjoyed it also. Again, not a lot of people but then again you aren't going thru the lobby every time you come and go to your room.

I get a feeling I don't like people LOL

We bought at SSR because we got an incredible re-sale price. It's fine resort, but it doesn't hold a candle to the other DVC properties in my opinion. We like to walk, so put me somewhere with access to walk to the parks instead of riding the bus? That's my ideal. But dues and buy-in cost at Boardwalk and Beach Club were just higher than what we were willing to pay and while BLT would have saved us money on dues in the long run, for us, we'd have been sacrificing theme for location. Ideally, even though the only place to walk is to Fort Wilderness, I'd have bought at Wilderness Lodge since it is not only my favorite DVC resort, but also one of the more difficult to get into given the low capacity. However, I didn't want to pay the higher dues AND a higher cost per point when we knew that we would probably still try to jump around to the other DVC properties. So for what it costs us relative to what it could have cost us, I'm content owning at SSR, but I try not to stay there! There are just too many other great options.

I keep ending up at SSR for its location to Disney Springs, low point cost, and the ability to book in under 7 months. I *love* AKL for theming, but location-wise I've needed something different these last couple of trips. I have been dying to stay at BLT, and I almost did on this trip, but 50% of the things I need to do are in Disney Springs, and I only have 55 hours on property. So - I gave up staying where I wanted to for access to where I need to be.

I love Kidani but enjoyed SSR except for the length of time to get out of the resort by bus. We would like to stay at BLT because of MK as we seem to spend a lot of time there.

If you stay in Congress Park, you can use the Downtown Disney bus stop and it's really quick. Plus, it gives you direct access to all of the other Resorts instead of having to switch buses at a theme park. muchlove

This is a huge benefit at SSR (though unfortunately I couldn't get into Congress Park last time) and at BLT. It makes resort dining so much more accessible without renting a car. It's not too bad to walk to DHS from Boardwalk for a bus transfer either.

Oh! I had never really considered how direct it could be at BLT and Boardwalk too! awesome
