Disney Dining Plan tipping

I just have a quick question. I will be dining in a group of 7 people during each meal, but we are technically made up of 2 groups, one of 3 and one of 4. Will the 18% gratuity be automatically added to the bill?
I'm really just curious because, while we have the dining plan, I'm sure we will be getting alcoholic drinks, and I was planning on paying for that with Disney gift cards... But I kind of wanted to pre-package cash tips in little cards like I saw Magic Mirror did. Does that make sense? Thanks for any advise!

If you are all sat at the same table, you will get the automatic tip put on. You could always make little thank you cards instead of envelopes?

Typically a group of six is charged an 18% gratuity but I was told that a law was passed in Florida where restaurants can't do that anymore. I would plan on an 18% gratuity. You can look up the menus with prices and see what maybe your group might order to figure out how much gratuity might be. You can certainly pay more for gratuity then the 18%. The Disney World website does list the menus for most of the restaurants with the prices. I think Allears and Disney Dining are also websites others commonly recommend to look at menus with prices as well.

Robyn is right. If you are all seated together then the gratuity will be added. The servers will also mention this at the begining. I'm big on budgets and like to not worry about gratuities while I'm there so I start early building up our tip cards. We purchase nice thank you cards then embellish them. Before I leave home I put a $10 a $5 and 5 $1's in an envelope for each night of our stay. Based off how we eat that normally is well over 20% so we can adjust up or down based off service. Keep in mind you will likely not be able to go below 18%.

Thanks for the info all, that definitely helps! I would be doing the 18% anyway unless service was REALLY bad. That's a good idea to put a little of each denomination and then adjust, and I will be looking at the menus and determining how much that would probably come out to. Thanks again! mickey

Can you just use your Magic Bands and have the tip charged to your room? I never carry cash...
