Disney Wedding

I'm trying to talk my boyfriend soon to be fiance into a disney wedding for a lot of reasons. Has anyone done this? Opinions? Would you do it again?

I haven't done one before but I have a friend who had an awesome Disney Wedding. She had hers at the Boardwalk and there all sorts of locations that you can book. They run a great blog called The Disney Weddings Blog that has great pictures but they also have a lot of good information on their as well.

There is an unofficial blog called The Disney Wedding Blog that has a TON of info as well.

Yeah I'm finding everything is equally expensive, so I might as well have the least stress possible. I've been doing a lot of looking into it. My man is not convinved however :/ but its my dream.

What is holding him back? Maybe we can help you address some of his specific concerns? My best friend is currently planning her Disney Wedding and I've had a fabulous time talking to her about it. Is he a Disney Fan at all? Has he been to Disney as an adult? Perhaps you guys need to make an adults only trip so that he can see how wonderful and romantic it really is!

Ya know... a wedding is a wedding, but everyone knows its the bride who gets the wedding they want. When I got married, the only thing I wanted input on was the cake because I had to eat it to (and wear it). So I think he should let you have the wedding of your dreams. Especially if its either going to be the same in the price or not much more. Go for it!

We went last summer with kidlet, he is a disney fan. I think he's worried about cost, and that his family wont go. I think with enough notice many would go. I'd also be willing to do a second ceremony at thanksgiving in his family's town. Money is very different there so I understand not everyone would be able to go. However I'd really like an amazing day with my family and friends at epcot. Epcot is my favorite place. I have some of my happiest memories there, some with him and my kidlet. I'm not a big dancing person, and we're not really drinkers. I just think this would be so nice. A morning ceremony with brunch, the day in epcot then cake and champagne under the fireworks (maybe some appetizers too if budget permits).

I have some real reasons beyond my sentiment for Disney for wanting this too.

1. I have celiac disease. Catering can be a real pain in the ass for a celiac. I do not want a steamed chicken breast and steamed veggies for my wedding recception food. I also dont want to get sick from my own wedding.

2. As formentioned I have celiac disease, anyone can make a gluten free cake but very few can make it right.

3. My mom, maid of honor, and other possible bridesmaid also have celiac disease. That makes 4 gluten free people. Disney does gluten free right.

4. Our families are spread out everywhere. My family in particular is extremely politically retarded. If we do this in his home town they're going to think its based on some false preference for his family. I really dont want to deal with those persons on that level.

5. I'm extremely busy, and I have a disease that is very stress reactive. Planning a wedding is stress. Disney magically takes about 90% of that stress off my shoulders.I've got 2 friends 6 months after their weddings fighting their photographers currently. I've had others with fiascos over food, or flowers. I really dont want to play coordinator of 6 different vendors to 2 different locations. It does not interest me.

6.I dont want an atypical wedding with ceremony, photos, food, and dancing. I'm a very lets go do something person. I think Disney makes wonderful memories and is a very diverse place with something for everyone to do during the day.

7. Though its expensive I feel disney really does give the best bang for the buck. Between organization, and presentation you really get beyond what you pay for at disney.

8. I have a kid from a prior marraige I want this to be about her too. We are starting a life together that includes her. Disney is her favorite place too. I want a day we can share with everyone that we love who chooses to come. Something amazing about being a family. Disney does the whole being a family thing wonderfully.

I was lucky enough to attend a Disney Weddings Press event last year. While there we were told that the majority of Disney Brides spend less money at Disney than they would at home, especially if home is a major city. In NYC the average wedding costs $75K, at Disney those brides can get a similar affair for about $35K. They said that most Brides worry that no one will come, however the response rate is actually higher for Disney Wedding than for regular home town affairs. Give them enough time to budget by sending out save the dates, but people love to go to Disney. Disney offers a variety of wedding styles as well. If you only want a few people and to stick to a relatively low budget you can have a pre-designed Escape Wedding. However if you would like to go all out with more guests and a Wishes Wedding the sky is the limit.

Do research for the wedding you would want at home and make up a budget, then do the same for Disney. Take both budgets to him so that he can see for himself the costs. I think that the reception at home later is also a great idea!

Pixie, sounds to me like your reasons are valid! I think you'll probably be able to convince him. I was worried family wouldn't come to a Disney wedding as well..but..in the end if you give them enough time to plan and they still can't come..oh well you know? That's a little harsh and there are always circumstances but it's your day.

We live in the DC metro area, and I'm already finding this to be the case. Vinyards around here arent cheap, I am interested in the baltimore aquarium but it will likely cost us 50% more than Disney. I could go all out at disney for 20k and have a wedding that would blow my socks off, I could also do one I'd be more than happy with for about 12-16k. We could do one a little cheaper up where his family is from in western NY but I think in the end itll even out despite what my current budget shows because the budget is for 50 people. I think at Disney we'll get 60 tops, in NY we'll get over 100 which will double the food, cake, and set up costs which will make it about the same.

My biggest worries are the stress and food. I love october fall used to be my favorite season but when I developed my condition that kinda went by the wayside. The weather in Florida would mean even if things arent 100% I wont have to worry about the weather agrivating it.

I'm waiting till June to call their actual coordinators I'm going to have them work their own budget as well so we'll have a real cost vs a subjective one. This way if we go this route there are no suprises.

Don't wait to call, give them a ring now. They'll let you know what can be done at this point and what you need to wait a little longer to do, but you want to make contact with a human as soon as possible.

My best friend's fiance made a comment at one point that having a Disney Wedding was a little like having an "easy button". I'm not so sure that I agree with that, but they do indeed take care of a lot of the work for you, you just have to make the decisions. With a Disney wedding you won't have any of the "heavy lifting" and if your health is a concern then that truly may be the way to go, unless you were going to hire a coordinator at home. Disney's goal for their Wishes Brides is that they not have to lift a finger on their Wedding Day so that they can truly enjoy it.
