Do you ever "switch parks?"

We've had the experience on certain trips where all the parks were really packed but then we hit the sweet spot and suddenly one of the parks was deserted. I was reading on one of the crowd calendars for example that today was packed at DHS and deserted in MK. We pretty much commit to one park and stay there for a while, but I'm starting to think that's a mistake. Does anyone ever go into a park and see that it's really busy and try a different one?

We park hop all the time. We almost never spend an entire day in one park. Sometimes we plan it that way and sometimes it just ends up that way.

We definitely "park hop," but like dsoup we usually stick to the plan for the day. I think there are a lot of random variables that affect crowds and it might be in our best interests to just change it up. The problem is it takes so long to get in and out of the parks that we don't really want to switch if it's going to be just as crowded somewhere else. The worst would be to leave one park, go to another, only to find it's just as busy as the one you left.

We're usually at MK from open until close, but we tend to hop between the other parks...especially DHS and AK. We have also done all four in one day a couple of times!!

That's dedication! Do you usually go open to close?

We almost always hit a park in the morning and then get out during the heat/crowds. We then hit another park in the evening. Sometimes it's the same one as the morning, more often not however.

We've only park hopped for things like Fantasmic or Illuminations or to the park with evening EMH.

We have switched parks a few times but that is not usually the norm for us, when we leave a park it's usually because we are done for the day and it's back to the hotel.

Not always open to close, I need a GAC and we go out of season so often we get most of the park done in 1 day, we're spending 1 day at DHS and AK this year and 2 days at Epcot and MK. Last year we had 1 hopper ticket left over so on our last day we hopped 3 of the parks which was fun, but it did feel like we spent a lot of time hopping rather than just taking it easy Smile

Agreed. There's so much time spent getting in and out of the parks, so it's a serious cost to switch parks. Of course sometimes one park is just a mess and you need to move on.
