Do You Think You'll Ever Try DLRP?

Every time I see the beautiful landscaping and theme I want to try Disneyland Paris. The pictures of all the familiar rides covered in snow blow my mind too. I've also been wanting to head back to Europe (although France wasn't terribly high on my to-do list.) I imagine I'd like to go some day. Anyone else hoping this is in their future?

As it's our nearest park, I hope to go eventually. We can get there in about 4 or 5 hours on the train. Don't think I'd want to go in the winter though, we have enough cold weather at home and holidays for me are about warmth!

I've always had a hard time going to theme parks when it's cold, too! 50's is fine, but snow is a no-go for me!

Tony, if your next trip to WDW isn't until 2011, sounds like a trip to DLRP is in ORDER! Then again, you're always frolicking in the crystal blue waters of the Greek islands, so I can't really fault you for deciding on the latter!

We'd like to visit all of the Disney parks at some point. DLRP is not at the top of the list, but it IS on the list:)

ive been a few times as we live just a few hours away. Its a waste of space IMO, Parisians = Rude. Its just not 'magical' like WDW and DL Sad i would go again as its so close and its good if i need a disney fix but to us, even though its only a few hours away its almost as expensive for 3 nights there as it is for 2 weeks in WDW!

But it's so pretty! Are there other downsides besides...the French? biggrin

I'd heard the locals were less welcoming than those in the US parks. A French person can be a lovely, welcoming individual, but the French people do seem to be ruder than other places I've visited. (If that makes sense).

its not the french per se, its more the parisians. French can be lovely, we have a place in the south of france and the french there are lovely, really lovely! But in Paris.... not so much. After sitting in a disney restaurant for 2 hours without a drink or a server (even when we tried stopping them as we walked past, they obviously heard us but didnt bother to stop) it confirmed why DLRP is just not WDW. Plus DLRP is NOT as pretty as WDW..... its tiny and the rides are rubbish in comparison IMO anyway.

I've always wanted to go to France, mostly to see the Louvre and Versaille...of course since we'd be there already DLRP would be a must do.

That said, with the economy/exchange rate and what I've heard from multiple sources about the French (Parisians?) not being very gracious to Americans...I'm having second thoughts about spending my vacation dollars there!! There are plenty of other places to move up on the list!!!

I didn't know it was so expensive either. My issue was based on all I've heard about the French/Parisians in general. I've heard from numerous sources, both American and European, that they are among the least gracious people you're likely to run into in your travels.

Oof! I never considered the implications of a Disney park run with the world famous Parisian service ethic. Did you find the magic rubbed off on them a little bit or are they too much ingrained with that ethic to budge even for Disney? Also, tell us more about your place in the south of France!!

afraid i found they have skipped past the disney magic Sad mad that said, i do love paris (they're stroppy in Paris but they dont pretend to be anything but) so yeah ill probably go again as ill definately be spending more time in Paris before my days are up. We live just outside london so we can catch the eurostar to Paris and DLRP is about a 30 min train journey outside. I would save the money than stay onsite though. What you've heard about the french is sadly true (i still think its parisians, not the french in general but you know what i mean) they'r not that friendly. I once read an article about paris and the service you get there from restaurants, you DARE to enter into them and you have to be so grateful to them for serving you! Its SO different to WDW and the US in general from my experience, everyone is so chatty and friendly, its a culture shock to say the least!

my parents place in the south is just a mobile home about half an hour's car journey away from St Tropez - but without all the showing off lol. Its a tiny little village up in the mountains but still 5 mins from the beach, heaven! They're actually off there on thursday for easter, i'm dog and cat sitting sad

yep! its ridiculus!!

a 3 night holiday there for 2 adults in a cheap hotel eith eurostar is easily £1200 our 3 week holiday to WDW is costing £1800 (a bit more but we are staying for 3 weeks!) and thats not even going into how expensive the food is in DLRP, last new years we spent £60 per meal on counter service or a cheap sit down, planet hollywood was well over £100 for a shared starter, 2 soft drinks and 2 mains. I think at the moment thats about $150. When we went on our honeymoon we had less than $100 to spend per DAY!

Oh my goodness -- those prices are outrageous! That alone could keep me in the Stateside parks for a while.

I've spent a lot of time in and just outside of France, but only a few days in Paris. The French, in general, were wonderful, but I'll admit I didn't interact with many folks in Paris-proper (was clearly a tourist when I was there...my home at the time was closer to Eastern France).

I'm hoping to go to Paris in the fall, and I've toyed with the idea of checking out DL Paris just to see how it compares, but I don't know. I'm afraid I'd compare it to WDW and be disappointed.

There's also so much else to do in Paris, that it seems hard to justify a day to go over and check out a park that you've already kind of experienced. That being said I'd still consider it just because it looks so interesting from the pictures.

No doubt Disneyland Resort Paris has beautiful attractions assortment. We also had memorable time there and it is also included in our traveling schedule and we hope that we will spend here memorable time.

The following DLRP attractions are my favorite and my favorite restaurant is Blue Lagoon Restaurant. It has delicious food variety and affordable charges. There atmosphere is really lovable.

1. Big Thunder Mountain,
2. Pirates of the Caribbean,
3. Space mountain,
4. Art of Disney animation

I stumbled upon some Disneyland Park (Paris) info earlier and was very surprised. Apparently, DPP is the LARGEST of the Disneyland themed park. Also, I knew some of the 'old favorite' rides were different there but didn't realize how much. Space Mountain for example, is totally different and features three inversions! PotC is also totally different. BTMRR (just BTM there) is on an island. That's only a few of the notable differences. Now I want to go. If only they had a WDW-hospitality-magic-and-pricing day biggrin

Wow, I didn't know any of that. I suspect when they say it's the biggest they're comparing it to the other Magic Kingdoms. I don't think there's another park there, whereas California has California Adventure and WDW has all the various other parks. It's interesting that it appears to be accepted now. I remember when they first built it everyone was considering it a failure.

Yeah, that is compared to the other MK parks. I started to write MK-themed, but didn't as they are all patterned after Disneyland (Anaheim). They do have a Studios park there as well, but I think it is pretty small. The park WAS (apparently) a failure for some time. It is just in the last few years gaining acceptance. It may still be on the bottom end of the Disney park scale, but I would like to experience the different versions of my favorite rides at some point.

I think I'll have to visit it once. The grounds are just so gorgeous. I didn't know it was the biggest "Magic Kingdom." I didn't know about all the differences, however I can now attest that Disneyland's Space Mountain is dramatically different from WDW's.

I'm afraid of flying! I've done it a few times and I did not fare well. So a long trip overseas is probably out for me. I'll just hope you all go and post fantastic photos!

I think several people on here prefer not to fly. I wonder if it's just more common than I was aware, or if we have a particularly high incidence of anxiety among Disney fans.

My observations suggest it's a national thing rather than specific to Disney fans. I find many more American's who won't fly than I do Brits or other nations.

Americans I think are particularly apt to the anecdotal fear over statistical fear. We're okay with dying of diabetes, we just don't want to be surprised. laugh

I think maybe it's that the idea of rugged individualism oftentimes just becomes being really concerned with control. We don't like it when our fates are out of our control. Plus Brits are just more stoic in general. Maybe they're all afraid of flying but would never let it show.
